Andrew is Admins grandson? And according to the quote, Scire handed things to Isobel Mather. So is that who Admins is?

Patrick Scire does make sense. I mean, who better to bring the company back to its roots than the guy who started everything?

If Admins is Patrick Scire, then he's a pretty narcissistic guy haha

Well…

I suppose now that the scions have been dealt with, things will settle down, and it's fine to reveal our identities.

Patrick wants to do that anyways, since he's hoping to take the position of CEO at Augcorp once more. I'm Isobel Mather, and Andrew's grandmother. My partner in administrating the site is Patrick Scire. We both uploaded before we died, and have existed for all these years just watching things progress in the world. We knew we would have to reveal ourselves eventually, but it didn't seem prudent to do so until now.

You've all probably been wondering why these scion abilities exist to begin with. The truth is, we don't know. They've existed in our families for several generations, and we've all been aware of this and each other. Telekinesis runs in my family, whereas mind control abilities run in Patrick's. Likewise, the clairvoyance and telempathy emerge from the Neumann family, which you may have seen mentioned on Augcorp's website.

The abilities usually manifest in a very weak fashion. My grandmother could sometimes lift a pencil with her mind, but little else. Patrick's father couldn't manage a full mind control sequence – he just came across as very persuasive. Patrick, however, was much stronger than his father, and I, much stronger than any relative I had. We realized that these things were getting more powerful as time went on, and this was confirmed by our generation's clairvoyant, who had visions of the Yellowstone eruption and the death of the younger Mather.

We realized that our children's children could become a serious threat to our goals in the future, so we uploaded secretly, and waited for them to show themselves. It took many years, but we found them. We scrambled to develop a plan to neutralize the threat, but thankfully, you and your friends have handled it quite well. We will continue to keep an eye on Andrew, but we believe he will be alright in the end.

As previously noted, now that things have settled down, Patrick is hoping to become CEO of Augcorp again.

I hope you find happiness in life, augmented or not.

best,
Isobel

^ I'm assuming that's a private message.

I just asked them that which one are they and they answered that they share the account. Patrick is the one wanting to be the CEO and Isobel is doing the updates.

Got more of an explanation out of Patrick.

Quote:
Initially, it was simply because I wanted privacy. I wanted to watch everything unfold, but I was weary of being in control of it. So I hid. I knew I'd reveal myself eventually, but I wasn't sure when I would do it.

Fast forward ten years, and it was too dangerous for me to show myself. Joseph Mather had turned Augcorp into a nightmare, and I could easily see him attacking the server on which I was living with his human botnet. I couldn't risk that. I have a self-preservation instinct just like everyone else.

So I watched. I waited for the scions to appear. I knew I (or someone else), would have to stop them if they became corrupt, but initially I was hopeful that they would use their abilities to reform Augcorp. That happened, in a way, but Exsupero could have gone about it in a much better fashion, and what happened next really floored me.

If you must know, I was a mess from the time he posted his little missive about reforming the world until you lot trapped him in Cincinnati. I didn't know what to do. I considered hacking his augmentation, but that's really exceedingly difficult, and I considered it morally bankrupt and a last resort. Thankfully, everything seems to have settled.

Then I asked this:
Self-preservation is understandable. Joseph was clearly a sick and twisted man to have done what he did. Now that he's dead, do you think there are any other risks to your server? I assume there would be some dangers to living openly as a digital entity. Will you be safe?

And speaking of the scions, what will happen with Andrew? He seems like a truly good person and it's sad to see him so troubled by his powers. Would you know of any way to help him?

And here's his response:

Quote:
Well, I think the digital world is a lot safer now that Goldwasser is gone. You know, I was recently informed that he was the one who hacked Mach Girl's augmentation. He did it as a sort of "false flag" operation, to create a martyr. With him gone, few people have the knowledge to be truly dangerous. And those who do are mostly on our side, like Daniel.

I've been thinking about the Andrew question, and if you or your friends have any ideas, please let me know. There are two scions left, and one seems to be alright, but I do worry about Andrew.

Looks like we now know the reasoning behind Mach Girl. O_O

Well, guys...

I got some sleep. Mostly now I just want to talk to "Beth." Is this possible?

Erm, actually...
I phrased this really wrong...

I ran this game. I just wanted everyone to know that it was me. I hope it was enjoyable. I had a lot of help doing this, and if you are interested, I can have the various people who worked with me come on here. I'd been doing the world-building for the game for about a year and a half in the form of an unfinished novel; a month and a half ago I decided to turn it into a game. That's how it happened.

What I said before about wanting to contact Beth was true, because Beth was a player and not a character. I managed to contact her, though, so it's all good.

Congrats to Ladybird for what appears to have been a very well-received campaign! Also, I'm really appreciative of the respect demonstrated for the rules of this board as well as for the effort put in to make the game rewarding for its players. Yay!

Wait, Beth wasn't IG? o_O Wow.

Ladybird, you did an amazing job with this. The story and the characters were so good. I was a bit concerned about the story development being so dependent on private messaging with the characters. This way we got bits of the story one player at a time. Thankfully the players were really active on uF, so I think we all were up to date where the story was going Smile
But really, you should be proud! This was a great experience.

Ladybird, this was probably the most fun storytelling experience I've ever been part of, thank you so much!
I really hope I get to see/support more of your stuff, whether it's a novel, a game, anything.
