Well I'd recommend The Origin Files. Actually has an ending. Really well done. Would love to read some interview with the creators on how they did it all and what they're doing next.

Do people like the other, lesser-known series? I tried Dark Harvest but stopped a little ways through. Heard 5zero2 is good but I'm not so sure from the first few videos. I know there are other series - I just trust you all to tell me which ones are worth the time to immerse myself.

Slender Man series were fun for a while, but I get the point, I get the idea, I get the premise. There's not much else you can do with that concept that hasn't already been done repeatedly.

I disagree. There's always a different direction you can take a concept in.

Personally, if I were to make a series, I would drop the distortion, the memory loss, the proxies, and the Slender Man appearances altogether. I would strip it down to a one season story about a parent who has lost their child, and is investigating the disappearances of children in the area. I feel it could be (gradually) very creepy piecing together what exactly the Slender Man is, and how long it's been around. The parent would never see the Slender Man (outside of pictures, maybe,) since it only appears to children, like the original mythos. As opposed to Marble Hornets, which became an over-the-top drama, I suppose this would be closer to a documentary.

(I haven't watched any Slender Man series outside of Marble Hornets, so if there is a series that focuses on the child-abducting aspect of Slender Man, I would greatly appreciate a link!)

This, so much. The MH clones and the sort of things we see in most of the current vlogs may be kinda running its course, but I think there's still lots of untapped potential in the original Something Awful mythos. I don't agree that TSM should necessarily not appear at all, but his appearances should be sorta like the original- we hear about his appearances secondhand and discover him hiding in the background more often than we actually encounter him face-to-face.

I've heard CaughtNotSleeping is one of the scarier vlogs. I tried watching a bit of it, but lost interest a couple videos in. Might be worth a shot.

I'm filled with confidence. I personally think it'd be cool if this forum could be kept opened for discussion on Trosephim's new series, being that it'll be uploaded on the Marble Hornets Youtube channel and all that. Just a suggestion. :3

I only meant to say that there's no promise that it will stay open indefinitely. Historically, discussion on Marble Hornets was archived between season one and season two.

This is kind of something that a lot of people are complaining about the current batch for doing, though. It seems to me that, if one is going to go this route, then whenever Slenderman DOES appear, it should be damn impressive.

Honestly, Marble Hornets mostly felt like the appetizer to EverymanHYBRID, so I'm holding up pretty well.

Well you must be starving then!

Caught not sleeping since its launch of "season 2" has been excellent. I would always recommend.

Lithp, except TSM would be the main focus here. Even when he doesn't appear, he's actually talked about (unlike MH) and clearly is the center of everything. We don't make the main focus the proxies or HABIT (not that I dislike HABIT from what I've seen of EMH so far) or Alex and TTA or the Obserrver or anything. I mean, secondary villains can be there, but TSM, even when absent, would still have much more of a dominant presence.

Could be interesting, but I still say that what appearances there are would have to be very impressive.

This sounds like it would be a really cool series. Really focused on the mystery and eeriness of the original idea.

I am getting a little tired of secondary villains.
I understand why they're common- you have to keep upping the threat level so the audience doesn't get desensitized to the scares, and it can be tricky to do that using Slenderman without screwing around with the plot a lot.

I do like some of them quite a bit, but they're not the reason I started watching, you know? And it almost always lowers Slenderman's presence and threat level by default, because you're concentrating on a more present threat. And lowering Slenderman's threat level is something you really shouldn't do. (There are debatebly some series who have managed to get away with lowering his threat level, EMH TT MH, but it's definitely something that should be avoided)

Yeah, I like HABIT & all, but Slenderman's absence is really noticeable. I think there always have to be "dry spots" where you focus on something other than Slenderman, but everything in moderation.

5zer02 takes a LOOOOONG time to get going. It does get pretty good, but I'd start from around "The Falls" or "Neighbourhood Video" because otherwise you just waste an hour watching boring-ass vlogs that don't connect to the plot.

I have a friend in the Caughtnotsleeping butterflies group. it's a good series, with a lot more than slendy in it. Serial killers, alternate worlds, strange organizations taken over by shitty 'new management', one of it's members being a self proclaimed "Spice girls loving gimp". The butterflies are pretty funny too, the plots good, and I THINK it recently won an internet award.

BUT, a lot goes on OFF cam, and in the tiny chat. Props to the butterflies for working their butts off on the wiki. Every TC event is logged on there, along with the side arcs and videos.

Plus, caught is an amazingly sarcastic SOB.

Hasn't HABIT more or less taken over Everyman Hybrid as the main villain by now? I've only seen the later episodes of EMH.
