META: Question: interested in a weekly group chat?

Yesterday in the #unfiction room danman_d mentioned that he liked games with a regularly scheduled time for updates. One reason is that it brought a number of players into chat together at the same time.

In this game we won't have that, but why can't we schedule our own weekly chat time to review where we are and talk to each other?

My schedule is such that I could do this on Monday nights 9:00 or so Eastern Standard Time. Monday is the only night I am available, but if it works better for everyone else at another time, that's great too.

What do you think?

sounds good

Sounds good to me - I really prefer to have those concentrated IRC moments - there are more than a few of us that can't remain in chat as long as we'd like. I'd be up for trying this!

Most definitely! And with everyone's schedules, I'm sure it couldn't hurt to try scheduling 2 or 3 a week....one during the week, one on weekends, and on that changes weekly....

Yep - that sounds like a good plan to me Smile
Reducing the amount of time I spend on IRC can only be a good thing for increasing daily productivity!

I agree, Fi.

As there is some interest in this, I would suggest we do a weekly chat starting around 10:00 [note: if 10:00 is too late to start, we could go for 9:00] EST. I think we might as well go to #ruaware so people don't have to find another room.
And someone should post the chat log, even if it has our usual frivolous banter included.

Sorry, I can't be here this Monday due to an unanticipated schedule change. After that I will take responsibility for posting the log. I am also working on a list of things we may want to discuss and I will post it here.

Damn - I've just been investigating the time zones, and 10pm EST will be 3am GMT!!! But seeing as most people here (I think) are US, then we can just read your logs. But then again maybe Giskard and any others in Europe can petition to have one at another time too?!

Timezones are such a bother for everyone. Smile
Do you have another suggestion for a better time?
Just because my schedule is limited don't let that be the deciding factor. Please. I am happy to post my questions and read logs of chats. I thought it was better to suggest specific details people could relate too. I know some people can chat during the day on the East Coast of the US. What time works best?

Maybe we can set up a poll with the time zones?
