A TSW puzzle box with files
Something that is driving me a little crazy

Hey everyone,
Long time no post!

Recently Funcom has been sent a puzzle box from a fan, I'll add some pictures of it in various stages of breaking it Razz

Inside were micro sd cards, the contents of the files are stored here:
https://www.dropbox.com/sh/tns6sghz1x0yixw/M_d6oWHL5I?n=11360300

It is driving me a little crazy, I have tried joining the files into a archive - obviously the titles of the files are hex but as for the password or where to go next I am stumped.

Thought I would ask for assistance from you guys as we have worked well as a team before!

I can't access the files at the moment but the note mentions "off set" so maybe what you are looking for is not at the beginning of the file. Have you tried a Hex Editor yet? Also, the memory cards are 8GB but the files are a few hundred bytes. Could that empty space be "the void?" You would need an actual disk image of the cards to analyze that but I have seen that method used before in another ARG.

So you have assembled them into the RAR file already I assume if you are wondering about a password. Attached is how I assembled them.

ETA - I need to look at that more, not sure the file is valid as-is.
void.rar

Yeah, I was wondering that too - but would not know where to begin!

Yeah thats how I assembled it too - but I am starting to wonder if there something else I am missing, its gonna be really obvious and I will feel really stupid Razz

This is so cool! I wish I had gotten a puzzle box! I love things like this.

Read it as this. The importance of the ten dimensions is to help scientist begin to theorized the concept of a unified theory that can thoroughly explain all physical phenomena.

#1. Line - The first dimension is a straight line.
2. Width - This dimension is include by length, still flat = 2-D
3. Depth - Added to the first two. Who doesn't love 3-D
4. Time - present in the now. Now things get tricky because the other 7 dimensions deal with intangible concepts we can't directly observed but know exist. Quantum physics and theory that in a few cases has been proven on atomic levels.
5. Past - time related. We have yet to officially achieve this but the quantum theory is sound and is there.
6. Future - Time in the future has been achieved on the atomic level in cyclotron colliders. Passing the speed of light arriving before it left.

The dimensions 7 through 10 deal with universes. It basically states that there are several universes that each have their own progressions of dimensional reality and possible outcomes. The tenth and final dimension is actually the some of all universes and all their possible outcomes.

Or this could simply be about Darwinian class structure.

@Greystone Thanks for the little educational lecture, always wanted to know what the dimensions past 4 were, thanks. P.S. I also would love one too!

Im not sure if it was pointed out yet but there are 6 sd cards and 1 note. The final key being the note? Due to it being in the center.
Another thing to add is the complexity that this puzzle holds, it has many dimensions if you will. From my memory I believe hearing, that the hexagon is the most durable shape in the universe, bees make them and when linked together subatomic particles become extremely strong ex: Graphene.

Now to state some obvious things, because when it comes to puzzles the obvious may and usually will hold the answer/key.
It has 8 sides, 6 being square and 2 being hexagonal. It has 2 circular honeycomb styled sheets. (reminds me of "I Love Bees") Also to add on the bee likeness is the fact it's black and yellow.

Have to go but will look at it more.

Yeah it was made by a fan of the game "The secret world" and in said game, the bee's give you powers of Anima Smile hence the bee theme.

My first step would be to run ie. Piriform's Recuva on every SD card to see if there is (or at least was) some more data on it.

www.piriform.com/recuva

This may take a while -especially in deep-scan-mode- but could be the best way to go...

Hmm, after googling around a bit I found the original thread on SecretWorld.com

http://forums.thesecretworld.com/showthread.php?t=74664

Now tbh, since the thread over there already has 20+ pages with more informations than Amelić's summary in the first post, I'm not quite sure if it's worth to continue in here...
-especially because the thread-opener (tilty) on SecretWorld has physical access to the SD cards...

EDIT: The guys over there didn't get any further...

That is quite up to you, I only brought it to your guys attention as I have been talking with Tilty about it and as they have made little headway with it in the office and neither have the fans I brought it here for fresh eyes.

I can get the physical access to it, or to put it another way - If physical access is needed that is not an issue.

edit: Pm'd you NiceLurk with a bit more of an explanation on "things"

I read that whole thread yesterday and in the end decided that the discussion there is really no further along than it is here. Easy enough to keep an eye on both.

sorry been in hospital but in recovery now.Not the recovery room obviously but recovery as in on the mend..

anyways.. was just wondering Amelia was this like a personal puzzle or is it the build up to a SW ARG?

I love the secret world ARG's

Exactly this. Last time TSW ran an ARG it was on here and their forums so perfectly easy to keep an eye on both! Smile

Let me reiterate - this is NOT an official Funcom ARG.
It was delivered to the office by a fan, and the contents of the filed have stumped everyone Smile

Lets take this as a fact.

The only thing that makes me wonder is this post:

Tilty wrote:
However, I edited the file 566F6964, as it contained the name of the creator of this puzzle (at their request).
I think the 2min time difference only reflects them adding their name in, in the first place

The order of the assembled files MrToasty posted seems correct.
'Unlock' starts with hex 52 61 72 21 1A 07 00 (ASCII: Rar!...) and 'Void' ends with 7E 76 35 30 (~v50). Makes a legit .rar file.

So how can Tilty edit the 'Void' file???

- Editing any bytes between the Magic Number and the EOF marker in a .rar destroys it and makes it impossible to unrar the file. 7zip ie. will show an error message, most likely "Unexpected end of archive" .

- If the name was attached behind the EOF, 7zip will not recognize the original file since it expects the last bytes to be the rar version number. "Cannot open file as archive".

Unfortunately 7zip shows exactly one of those error messages above if you enter a wrong password. So no way to see whether the pass is wrong or the file is damaged.

Or did he edit the uncompressed data? Hmm, but then he'd need to have the password...

NEW INFO!!!

The puzzle box sender has updated his thread after a year. I'm a longtime unfiction lurker and was thinking since we couldn't figure it out over there, maybe a certain group of codecrackers could help??
