[Trailhead?] The Gravity Papers An archivist, people in peril, and math... So I got this weird email from archivistsplat gravitypapers.com. I am pretty sure it is a Trailhead...
Quote:
There are three people in peril:
A physicist racing against time to stop a madman.
A reporter trying to find his brother's killer.
A woman lost at sea.
I am the only one who can save them all.
I need your help.
My name is Gavin.
I am the archivist.

But I will be in California away from my capacity to play for the next fiveish days. Someone want to look into this for me? It looks very interesting, the website seems to have several mathematical formulae plus several secrets.[/b]

Am also rather busy traveling for my employer but my vagabond ways brought me here to say a big HI to Z, Adm_BlackCat & all and to agree this looks intriguing.
OK... the formula on the home page is "Newton's law of universal gravitation" leading to the archive PW:

And the coords (51.4778 N, 0.0015 W) in the level 1 archive led me to the "Meridian Bldg and Telescope Gallery" (Royal Observatory). Have fun now!

Lots of info on the site to work through which with the recent forum down I have been collating but here we go:

Whelp, looks like this old account can finally breath again.

I haven't felt a trailhead tingle in ages, not since HPP. Been lurking since then and caught up once this thread caught my attention.
So, anything I can help out with?

Got a strange letter today. I put it in the archive under the file name: 5-12-24-18. Have I ever told you that you put the "i" in file?

Hello & Welcome Silver Sol. I got lucky on the cipher string, "kjpfximnnoqvuiqppg", found on the latest page yet am certain there will be plenty for you to help with.

It's a Gronsfeld Cipher & using the key "5-12-24-18" reads: find the immortal one

Ahh, fair enough.
But who is the immortal one? Looking at the theme of this ARG it could be another physicist of great stature, and metaphorically a lot of physicists would be immortal, known throughout time. It also could be a concept of philosophy. Would it be worth asking Gavin about it?
Update: I was researching the concept of the immortal one, and I came across Plato's final work on Socrates, Phaedo. In it was the discussed theory of the Human soul being immortal among other theoretical ideas.
I also was aware of the concept of biologically immortal creatures, such as the Turritopsis dohrnii, or immortal jellyfish, which is capable of reverting to it's initial polyp phase after it has reached sexual maturity, therefore restarting it's life again.
Gavin replied to my question. I asked him if it was possible that the human soul could be immortal.
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
I think anything is possible, but I will admit that while I know a lot, I don't know who the immortal one could be.
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
So, if not even the archivist knows who the immortal one is, I guess it's up to us to discover who or what the immortal one could be.

Decided to have a look at this one as this has some sort of interest to me. As the elixir of life has been mentioned I think it's worth looking at Newton's role in all of this. This Wikipedia page goes in depth on Newton's studies of the occult, specifically his interest in alchemy and in particular the Philosophers Stone and to a lesser extent the elixir of life.
I'm not sure entirely what direction to go from here but I have tweeted Gavin
Quote:
Did you know Issac Newton wanted to create the Elixir of Life? Seems to be an interesting coincidence.
So any other thoughts would be appreciated.

Looks like Gavin meant to begin his search for Hannah today, but he's unsure of where to start
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Today I need to start working on finding Hannah. Not sure where to begin. Coast Guard says no emergency beacon activated, no wreckage, etc.

Looks like there was a blog update yesterday.
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Updates!
Sorry it has been so long since my last post. Trying to find someone who doesn't want to be found is something of a headache, as I'm sure you can imagine. As far as the authorities are concerned, Hannah is not "officially" missing. Since there has been no distress call, no wreckage, and no sign of any storms in the area; as far as the coast guard is concerned she is not missing, but rather has simply decided not to radio in and probably has turned her radio off, which is why she is not responding to calls. Most likely she is docked and on land somewhere.
However, we DO have a small lead. As you know, Hannah's daughter is an astronaut aboard the ISS, but her husband, Hannah's son-in-law, has agreed to hand over Hannah's address book. The book contains the usual defunct list of relatives and numerous addresses for her daughter, but the most compelling of all is a note at the front of the book:

OK, here too.
The Newton's Laws of Motion were easy enough to find but here they are for posterity:
Quote:
I. Every object in a state of uniform motion tends to remain in that state of motion unless an external force is applied to it.
Quote:
II. The relationship between an object's mass m, its acceleration a, and the applied force F is F = ma. Acceleration and force are vectors (as indicated by their symbols being displayed in slant bold font); in this law the direction of the force vector is the same as the direction of the acceleration vector.
Quote:
III. For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction.
The Laws make sense of Gavin's twitter cover picture.

no link to anything Green sorry to be breaking the fourth wall but just to clarify - despite similarities, this ARG is not linked [on our part anyhow!] to the Jaadian Green related ARG - this is definite due to myself being the PM of the latter [and not linked to the former in any way!]
