Awesome, I'm glad they're taking that step forward. But that doesn't mean they won't be in it as well. I wonder what role John Cena will be trying out for?

They should just give him half of the series' funding and have John Cena play every character. Have him play a schizophrenic.

And that all of the personalities he creates are really people he murdered 10 years ago. But he also speaks with ghosts so the mystery is that some of them are real. And 44 isn't a TV channel but more so a broadcast system being used by an invading armada of aliens to take over the brains of the human race with TO being a simple doormat. And John Cena is also TO.

EDIT: Apologies, my roommate M. Night Shyamalan took over my account.

(All I can imagine now is John Cena is a really tight costume with a poorly painted white face)

This, someone email all this to Trosephimoah

EDIT: Little known fact, John Cena tried out for the role of Ron Stoppable in "Kim Possible". He didn't get it, which led him to start a career in wrestling.

Did they specifically say that or just that there'll be a casting? 'Cause they can participate in casting and win a role, you know.

Troy told me they won't be in it at all. Neither as return characters or as new characters.

Don't take offence if I hold you to that. But new faces would be really refreshing (not that my immersion was under threat to begin with). Was this skype call part of your Kickstarter tier? When did the call take place?

Yes. It was part of the kickstarter rewards. We spoke Sunday March 8th.

I was a bit disappointed when I heard that. I was actually hoping that they would come back and play different characters.

That is a bit of a shame.

So I wonder if that's how they'll go ahead with making all or most of their actual series--especially if they decide to continue making suspense as well as comedy series: hire actors for those and continue to star in their own little shorts, etc.?

I have to admit I'm ambivalent. I'd love to see all three of them in some role in every series they did, as they all continue to get better. Same universe or not, it wouldn't hurt immersion all that much. But, for example, if "44" really is in the same universe but is from the period of analog TV and maybe even when VHS tapes were far more prevalent than they are now, then using the same cast wouldn't hurt continuity so much--Jay, Alex, and Tim would all have been in high school or even younger at the time, so there's no reason to consider continuity broken. But I also do like the thought of them bringing in more people than just, say, Noah (whom I like so far, though that might be a minority view), or even their girlfriends or the other friends they've worked with in the past (at school, etc.).

Okay, I don't suppose they commented on the filming style of the series? Without Troy, Tim or Joseph acting there's enough people to make a skeleton crew for a more traditional film shoot. You probably know more than I do Vinny but I do remember THAC dodging the question of Noah making an appearance in 44 during the Twitch Q & A when the Patreon launched.

With the Patreon and the funding stretch goal for the new series in the Kickstarter, it would appear to me that they would paying actors to act in whatever they're cast in, which is reasonable given how seriously they're taking the new series. But hiring actors for the THAC shorts sounds a bit of a stretch, usually they help combat burnout and it's a fun way for the guys to let stuff out and try some dumb ideas. But unless they make a really good friendship with one of these new actors I couldn't see them being hired for a short with such low production value. Speaking of which why the hell has Brian not been in a short yet!?

If the Patreon was to ever hit 10,000 a month and get their studios out in Atlanta as well as more crew, I could totally see them roll out the comedy series as well as 44. But I doubt we'll see both running simultaneously, though I've been wrong before...
Like the Noah topic lonsumtravlr, I think the immersion is a controversial topic and THAC may have just wanted to play it safe and not touch it, though as filmmakers I think it was a very responsible choice to make.

EDIT: Looking back on the Tv broadcast in Entry 85 and the channel 44 watermark someone pointed out, it could be possible the anchor is one of the new actresses in the series, we know that THAC have a good handle on green screen as well so it's not impossible they put that entire broadcast together themselves, save for the stock footage of the fire engines. I realllllllly hope that 44 thing isn't a coincidence, because it's a connection that's way too awesome to ignore.

Last I heard of Brian he a) lived far away from them, and b) was very busy in nursing school (if not already a nurse). So we probably won't see him in any THAC shorts, no matter how cool it'd be.

But I'm not talking about future shorts, I'm talking about past shorts, as he was in many entries between seasons 2-3

He'd already apparently moved away by then and only came back when they could get him. There are pretty big out-of-series time gaps between Brian's appearances in season three, which I think partly owe to Brian's real-life schedule.

No no, I think I wasn't clear. I'm saying that I think for now they'll be relegating most of their own on-screen appearances to the shorts but would be trying to hire actors for at least this new series. Immersion I don't care about. I watch a lot of directors who use the same actors: The Coens, Wes Anderson, Wong Kar-Wai, David Lynch... More than used to seeing one person play several different roles even if the universes are linked.

I remember that Troy at least had originally said he'd wanted to move away from suspense and focus solely on comedy. That may have been in the past (I hope so, 'cause I love their work in both), but what I'd meant to say but probably didn't say well is that they may keep at least for the short term (and well see how THAC Studios plays out--fingers crossed though) casting themselves in the shorts and largely casting others for their series--so that they could continue doing both.

Ah okay, the point I was trying to say was it'll benefit them in the long run to work with different people and approach new styles of directing. While all those directors use the same actors frequently they'd learn nothing if they didn't work with someone new once in a while.

Not at all disagreeing. My original point was something similar: that maybe this is the way they'll get to grow.

No doubt about it, for those who haven't adjusted to Noah's arrival will have to live with it as there will likely be many more joining the team over the next few years. I mean when you look at THAC is kind of like Rooster Teeth in what it delivers in media, obviously not as big but it makes sense when you think about it. RT had Red vs Blue which was an online webseries which launched them into popularity as Marble Hornets launched THAC into popularity.
