Hi, I also got the emails from Alexa (my subject area is Photography).

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Just spotted 'Eliot' and 'Donne' in the Five Who Write wordsearch. Together with Tolkien and Pullman (and Seuss and Auden from before), I think they're all Oxford alumni writers.

Hmm, I didn't receive the emails. I wonder why that is. Anyway, I've found the fifth author so our 'Five Who Write' are:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Carroll
Donne
Eliot
Pullman
Tolkien

As katbee points out, they all studied at Oxford as with Seuss and Auden before.

I'll email Alexa with our findings but it might be worth someone who received the emails doing the same just in case there's a reason for me not receiving them (other than an error).

I've been working on this as well in my off time today, and sent off an email about it as well

Alexa has replied to say that the names look good. She said she would forward them to Daphne along with the speculation about Oxford being a common link (and potentially where the Traveling Circus members are enrolled). Fingers crossed we get an update soon!

I'll shoot off an email too but before i do, i wanted to ask if anyone is familiar with the works of Donne or Eliot? I'm familiar with the others, but I'm still wondering if being authors of the fantasy genre has anything to do with anything.

edit: eh, on second thought that doesn't really seem to be the case. but i did think it was a little weird that CS Lewis wasn't there, since he fits the bill and was also really close to Tolkien. i asked Alexa what she thought, and she said it was interesting and she'd forward that along to Daphne. so we'll see.

Five who write updated on the progress page. Nothing else is new though. Anyone get any emails?

Yes -- I've had an email from Daphne. Nothing huge but confirmation that we're on the right tracks and that we'll be getting that new page on The Searchers soon that was mentioned the other day:

I commend you for being so proactive. The Searchers have passed a very important test, the ability to glean information from a larger set of clues (the fact that all were associated with Oxford). This is an important skill going forward. Your next challenge will be a bit different, and yes, it has to do with a new page for compiling intel.

Thanks again!

i emailed Daphne asking about her art, her next show and contacting her dealer. this is the reply i just got:

I had an interesting encounter recently regarding my artwork. A man who is an associate of Ing's came to see me to "hire" me for my next show. It's going to a private show as part of a party at Dusan Digital. At first I was surprised that he was going to double my usual fee, until I saw the paperwork. The contract for this show stipulates that I cannot show or sell my artwork in any capacity until this show is over.

Mysterious, huh?

Talk to you soon!

-Daphne

Theres a new post on Daphne's blog that sumurised the two puzzles we all did and at the end of the post she revealed the next puzzle:

Quote:
our next puzzle begins now. It will not be nearly as straightforward or simple as the word seeks or the other clues. The first thing you will have to figure out with this puzzle is how to find it.

Alexa will drop the first hint. If you blink, you might miss it.

In saying that, going Alexa's twitter has the post "Word association" which was posted three hours ago from this post. I have a feeling that might be part of the first hint, but I dont know for what.

The 'word association' message could apply to the word Oxford -- maybe we need to come up with some associated words (university, dictionary, comma, etc.). Daphne made mention of a new page going live on Alexa's site -- I wonder if maybe we need to find a word that will give us the URL of the new page?

Or maybe we need to leave Oxford behind completely now? After all, it has been posted on the Progress page, under the title 'End to End'. I'm not sure of the significance of that -- any ideas?

Also, when mentioning that Alexa would drop the hint we need for our next task, Daphne said 'If you blink, you might miss it'. I assume that's a reference to the fact that Twitter can be fairly fast moving. But then I also wondered if it was a hint that we've missed something already. Maybe Alexa's email about the orphanage and her search from last week? Did anybody reply directly to that and get any kind of response?

Hello All! In geek-land Smile 'End to End' refers to http://www.wired.com/2014/11/hacker-lexicon-end-to-end-encryption/ with the OXFORD "O" possibly becoming the first letter (or nbr.) of our encryption key. Unless "If you blink, you might miss it" is a 'Doctor Who' reffy am tots clueless regarding Alexa's "first hint". Cyas...

The "hint" could also be a time based thing on Alexa's sire that could randomly show up at times and literally be a "blink and you'll miss it" type of deal.

So what we've so far for the new riddle:

end to end: oxford
word association
If you blink, you might miss it.

My guess we need another word for an html site for thesearchbegins.com for the new riddle.
