I think the chances of it being an ARG are increased with the addition of Noah to team Trosephim.

We're on a Quest by THAC shows that Noah is very good at creating a fictional universe and what is an ARG but a real-life version of D&D of sorts?

Very good point. We could be playing into a right into his hands, and I love it.

Quote:
Yeah I highly doubt anyone is going to get an email response.

But at the same time, why not? They could probably get away with something like that he dscott repsonds to some emails as long as its not something significant and worth remembering, you know? kind of like how jay interacted with us. It was just to feel real.

Ultimately though I really doubt its going to be an ARG. I wouldn't want it to be one anyway.

Maybe, but if were never going to get a response from it, it begs the questions why we were ever given an e-mail to begin with. E-mail addresses are used specifically to correspond with people, so unless we're supposed to do something else with the address I'm not sure what to think. What's more is the series hasn't even started (that we know of) so the fact that we're given a way to contact the character before the series has started makes me think there will be some significance with talking to dscott

Could just be to add realism to the site. Also possible that the characters in the series will find the site and get in touch with D. Scott, and thus the email's purpose is more because the site exists IG than because we specifically have anything we need to do with it.

Or it could be that there will be an interactive element, but I wouldn't count on it being an ARG just the same. It's possible that we'll be able to talk to the characters and get little hints and clarifications, like we did with Jay and TTA early in MH, but that doesn't necessarily mean we'll have any influence on the actual plot.

Again, just saying we shouldn't get too latched onto an idea (and those who'd prefer it to be an ARG shouldn't get their hopes up just yet.) It could still be an ARG, but it could also be more like MH's level of semi-interactive, or it might even just be viral marketing. Or it could be like an ARGish thing but not essential to the plot of the main series. LOST and other shows had stuff like that before.

Whatever it is, it was a fucking brilliant move on their part because look how much we are all freaking out about it. Well done to them

Exactly--they've really stepped up their marketing game.

We should consider the possibility that whoever was going to receive a reply from dscott3872 has already received them, and might not be able to talk about it because he/she/they have been told not to. Even if no one's received a reply yet dscott won't reply to everyone, if they reply at all.

I feel like they wouldn't risk someone going public anyway. Also, someone probably would.

It's just a dummy account, y'all (or are you speculating IG now?)--though I wouldn't be surprised if Tim were the one handling them, as he seems to be the member who patrols the THAC forum boards and interacts with posters most.

It's the email address of Dummy Scott.

Actually, just realized that's probably not the best word given the shadier, nefariouser associations of the term. I meant that it's a real account set up to receive actual emails and add an air of authenticity to the marketing and to kick up hype and suspense, but that it probably won't be used for any actual interaction with fans. Now watch and several people will get emails from dscott. Prove me wrong, Tim.
