What about the numbers from the gif and doubling 44 (2 x the number of brackets) to get 88? Or maybe the top row of brackets and the bottom row of brackets are similar because the bottom row is a reflection? (We ARE dealing with water and with something being deep in it--maybe there's something in the water directly related to... something... found above?)

I feel like that error page is just supposed to be the page that shows that we didn't get the password right. You could try to figure out what it is, but im not sure how relevant it is. Hasn't that picture been there for a while now?

Also about the88 Curly Brackets and for what they could mean, heres wikipedia on them:

Quote:
Curly brackets—also called braces or (colloquially) squiggly brackets in the US—are used in specialized ways in poetry and music (to mark repeats or joined lines). The musical terms for this mark joining staves are accolade and "brace", and connect two or more lines of music that are played simultaneously.[15] In mathematics they delimit sets, and in writing, they may be used similarly, "Select your animal {goat, sheep, cow, horse} and follow me". In many programming languages, they enclose groups of statements. Such languages (C being one of the best-known examples) are therefore called curly bracket languages. Some people use a brace to signify movement in a particular direction.[citation needed][clarification needed]

Presumably, due to the similarity of the words brace and bracket (although they do not share an etymology), many people mistakenly[citation needed]treat brace as a synonym for bracket. Therefore, when it is necessary to avoid any possibility of confusion, such as in computer programming, it may be best to use the term curly bracket rather than brace. However, general usage in North American English favours the latter form.[citation needed] Indian programmers often use the name "flower bracket".[16]

In classical mechanics, curly brackets are often also used to denote the Poisson bracket between two quantities.

Yeah--what did you do?

I can see how that may look like a disk, but it could also be a 45 record or a flying saucer. You've inverted that, what, 180 degrees?

I think the gif was simply brightened and given more contrast/saturation.

Getting back on topic, I think the disc/record thing could have some footage on it. Which reminds me of what Tim was doing in "Noah Opens A Box". Coincidence? Most likely. Confused

A flying saucer? That happens to have a pretty interesting connection with the newest THAC short.

(Also, hey everyone. Long time lurker, but finally joined the forum.)

I don't really know how I came to my analysis on the disk, It just looks like a disk coming into frame for me.

Also, I think I see some bushes at the bottom, but it could just be distortion or something else entirely.

OK, well... from my tech-ignorant mind comes a perhaps irresponsible question:

Assuming that IG (I hate that phrase for something that's not a game but seems to be more a series with interactive, game-like elements, so "in-series") the marblehornets.com site and even (as much of a winkingly obvious, intentional promo it was--I'm NOT saying that "44" is them going EMH on us but rather that they're being innovative with the marketing) the THAC boys' recent convention panel have been hacked and infiltrated somehow, then what if that DVD is meant to get those of us who've bought the season 3 or the blu-ray to try to find something there?

(I doubt it I doubt it I doubt it, but why the fuck not throw it out?)

Also, I don't see bushes--I see books or papers on or around a desk (or, if this was shot in a room/tentative home office like mine, practically mulching the desk on the floor).

While looking through Tumblr, I found this guy who used the thewaterisdeep numbers mixed with 44 to get coordinates. The coordinates are 44.141223 44.208655. They may not be significant, but I'm posting them here because they lead to Africa, which somebody pointed out uses the DD/MM/YYYY date format, which happens to be the one used in the email. That date format being used in the email is also kinda odd because America doesn't use it, even though MH takes place here. The guy on tumblr is davidlikestofilm.tumblr.com

I'm with lonsum here, it looks more like a home office than a forest. To me, at least. Kinda hard to tell with archaic symbols dancing across the screen and distortion making everything wonky.

Speaking of which, is anyone any closer to figuring out what the symbols are or what they mean?

Books and papers make more sense than bushes or trees. If it is a disk, maybe it's being inserted into a computer? That's assuming it even is a disk.

Still not sure about the books and papers or not, but flip the gif back to its original position but leave it cleaned up. The thing coming from the left that some are saying is a tree: it's some kind of a hand. Note the fingers. What I can't tell is whether or not it's human or something else. It's an odd motion, but it seems to be reaching for that circular object that looks like a DVD. Maybe there's some espionage involved--maybe a reporter at 44 got a huge lead on a story?

That's a good theory. To repeat what I posted in another thread:

Regarding "D. Scott"

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/D._Scott_Rogo

He was a parapsychologist (someone who studies paranormal oddities) who was murdered by an unknown killer in 1990 at the age of 40. Last seen on August 14, found dead August 16.

I doubt this is the same guy, but it might be some kind of inspiration into who the "D. Scott" who sent the emails.
