On a whim, I fired off this email to customerserviceSPLATcolumbiariverrentals.com, now that we think we know their destination:
Quote:
Sir or madam,
I am privately investigating a kidnapping. A man that goes by the
alias Joseph Palser, as well as a great many other names, has
kidnapped a woman and taken her across state lines. The assumption is
he is taking her to Phoenix, Arizona. He may have rented or stolen a
vehicle from your company. This man has a counterfeit licence from
Washington state with the identification number PALSEJM272L9.

While I realize most of your records are confidential, any help that
you can provide would be a great benefit to the case and the safe
retreival of this woman.

Thank you,
Brian

And received this response:
Quote:
Well don no if i can help ya. He took my new van. Had da plate number IRL-129.
Its a nice cunverson van. Green. Hope yall can git it back to me. You say
dat cards a fake? Dam thing.

Maybe the van wasn't new new, just new to Chad? Does he have pictures of it anywhere?

I am going to guess it is the one on their site (http://columbiariverrentals.com/) or at least something similar. I do not know if they have just the one or a fleet of several.

Two emails from Columbia River Rentals, one from today and one from yesterday (sorry, it had a note about the van which I overlooked, duh). The curious piece is, one, that I was sent two replies and two, that apparently different people sent them, given that one can spell and the other cannot.

Hi there,

I'm glad you all have finally put a contact email on your site! I
am thinking of relocating to the Amboy area, and as a general
contractor (to be, anyway), I may well have need of your services in the near future. The Komatsu - D53A 1981 has got to be one of my favorite
pieces of heavy earth moving equipment, and it warms my heart that
one will be just an email away should I actually make my way up to
your parts.

Best wishes,
Alan Link Starfarbalwitz

Thanks for your interest in my company. I would certainly appreciate
your
business. Drop us a line any time you'd like. I'd love to discuss
The
Komatsu - D53A and all its merits.

Thanks,

Did you check the senders' IPs?

Chad may not be a good speller, but maybe he has some hired help that answers the technical/sales questions.

The good speller signed it as representing the company.

Um, how does one check an email's IP? I looked through the source code but didn't see anything.
