Happy Anniversary Legacy/FL

Today marks the 1 year anniversary of the end of the ARG and the release of the movie, and there is still activity in these forums about Tron. I think that's a great statement about the Tron universe and how much the fans enjoy it.

Looking back, I'm not sure what I enjoyed more, the ARG or the movie.
Regardless, I'm really looking forward to Tron Uprising and Tron 3, and the fact that the universe is still going on.

My plans just got cancelled for today, so since its the anniversary, i thought a double feature would be in order.

Happy Birthday, TL/FL!

I subconsciously put on the TL soundtrack an hour ago. I happily drove my "Tron"mobile, decked out with Sam's 89 vinyl decal and Tron T today, with a Flynns keychain attached to the key in the ignition.

Personally, I really dug the ARG, and it edges the movie just a tad, simply because it involved us as participants in the Tron story, rather than passive observers of a movie. But I liked the movie, too. Smile

I have listened to the Legacy album now over 250 times in the last year. The whole thing. Only soundtrack that even comes close is Inception for me, and that's at ~40ish plays.

The music was the best thing about the movie, to me it was the best aural experience to have heard the album and then seen the movie. It was perfect, and not because I'm a fan of Daft Punk, but because it worked. Orchestra backing electronica-or was it electronica backing orchestra? It fit the mood of the Tron universe better than the movie did (yeah, I kinda went there).

I was just remarking that a year had passed, and I still have a giant box of Tron Legacy items that beg for a place in my soon-to-be-constructed workshop. There are ideas, things to create, worlds to write into being, all ahead of us.

I wouldn't be so silly to say it's all because of a movie that I saw when I was 5. It was my imagination that caught fire, seeing capacitors as giant towers, transformers as warehouses, circuits like, yes, freeways. An entire world of greens and silvers and wires and switches, occuring at the speed of light. The things I touch today will be hundreds of miles above our Earth in a couple years, and I can only imagine what wonders our imaginations will serve into our lives then...

I hope we'll be ARGing soon with Tron 3...

I agree with everyone else- the soundtrack is very cool- I will be driving 15 hours tomorrow, and Daft Punk will fuel some of the earlier hours. Perfect music for driving through a major metropolitan area in the early dawn hours. That and the soundtrack to Super 8, which is also very cool as I love anything by Michael Giacchino.

I was just re-reading what EDGECRUSHER wrote 'cause I can kinda relate.
Tron was one of the first movies I ever saw in the theatre, I remember it very clearly. My dad took me to go see it when I was 8 and it had a huge impact on me. It is probably the reason I became a computer programmer.

It was also nice that 28 years later, I got to take my dad to the sequel... My treat, of course.

That is awesome. Its great how something so simple can become so meaningful to so many people.

What did dad think of Legacy?

He loved it. He thought it was a great movie.
And he remembered going to see the first one with me, although vaguely and not to the degree that I remember. But growing up, there were enough Tron toys lying around that it would be something hard for him to forget.

I was talking about the sequel coming out to my friends on a constant basis for close to 2 years before it hit theaters, so everybody wanted me go see it with them. And I did, many times.
But I made sure that when I took my dad it was just him and me, like it was when we saw the original, and it really was a wonderful full circle moment.

I can't believe it was just one year! Felt like ages. I listen to Tron soundtrack when I'm driving, especially when I'm sleepy. I don't know why but with Tron soundtrack on, I just have endless energy.

Happy Anniversary....and looking forward

Happy anniversary, FL!! If you're reading, 42, well done again.

And not to threadjack, but I was wondering if anyone was thinking what I was thinking....

Ok, so FL ended right around the release of the movie, which was December, '10. Working backwards, we had the first hint of ARG-related activities at the SDCC 2 years prior (with the first appearance of the scavenger hunt & light cycle).

Now, since I've heard mention of a 2014 filming/release with the recent happy news about Tron 3, I started overlaying that with SDCC/other events to anticipate when they might start, if they were to do so.

So, if we're looking at maybe a late 2014/summer 2015 release, that would mean that 2013 SDCC could be the first echoes of any ARG activity, with the possibility of winter 2013 being the start of something else.

That could mean that we're less than a year away from new Tron-related ARG goodness!

We can hope, right?

You have been elevated at least two levels of cool in my eyes. Here's hoping you are clairvoyant...
