PM from Thad Tidwell on YIM

Hello all! Glad to be back here on unfiction, getting back into the ARG genre.

Anyhow, just rec'd a PM from Thad saying:
thad_tidwell: Our mission has been defined. return to
thad_tidwell: http://www.therestorers.org
thad_tidwell's status is now "Idle" (4/28/2004 10:55 PM)

There is a new page at the restorer's webpage:
http://www.therestorers.org/Mission.htm

Here is the text:

Well it has become apparent to all of use here at The Restorers that our mission has been clarified. As most of you probably know by now, Amboy was the site of a large protest against the company known as Ideltech. The protest targeted the companies search program or bot called T.O.B.I. After much conversation, with many people that attended protest and those of you I have had the pleasure to meet on the internet, it has become very clear that we focus our energy to protecting our right to privacy. We know that Ideltech was started by 3 young men that grew up here in the Amboy area. Something that started out as a project for school has turned into a very lucrative business for these men. But as they strive for wealth and all that comes with it, our privacy has the potential to be invaded without us even realizing it. The government has made it clear that they will acquire this technology and use it in the war on terror. But as we have seen lately anyone can be considered a terror threat. If this program is allowed to be used by the government then with just raw data that it collects it could very well invade the privacy of anyone and mark them as a threat and the government will act swiftly to stave off that threat, real or imaginary. Our fight needs to be taken to Ideltech now, before the government has complete control of this technology. So we send a call out to all that believe in the right to privacy. Use all the tools at your disposal to let Ideltech and its management know that this is unacceptable. That we as Americans will fight to the end, to keep those rights that our forefathers saw fit to bestow upon all of us. We will not rest until our right to privacy is secure and the threat to our rights has been averted or eliminated.

DE OPRESSO LIBER!!

I'm still catching up, so maybe it makes sense to others more than it would to me...i haven't really read it yet.

Thanks!

D-

I can't stay on now but I will let you all know when to expect me on so we can organize and get ready for, what i believe is going to be, a very tough battle ahead. http://www.therestorers.org

The source code indicates that "Mission" is a city. Mapquest lists 9 Missions: one in the county of Hidalgo in Texas, one in Johnson in Kansas, one in Umatilla in Oregon, one in Todd in South Dakota, one in Santa Barbara in California, one in Sussex in Delaware, one in Chippewa in Michigan, one in Crow Wing in Minnesota, and one in Cherokee in North Carolina.

View source. It's a messy bit wrapped around the "Our Mission" headline at the top of the page:
Code:
Our <st1:City w:st="on"><st1:place w:st="on">Mission</st1:place></st1:City>
I'm assuming your browser is loading the special tags in the header:
Code:
<o:SmartTagType namespaceuri="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" name="City"/>
<o:SmartTagType namespaceuri="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" name="place"/>
Gotta love Microsoft for inventing SmartTags and then demanding that the browser world supports them.
