[Trailhead?] Dancing M I noticed an odd Facebook page on my feed the other day.
https://www.facebook.com/TheDancingM/
No idea what it is..it's a definite trail and mentions ARGs. Those characters are also easily a code.

Translated The semaphore-looking characters translate to :
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
"FILE NOT FOUND (404 ERROR)
IF YOU THINK WHAT YOU
ARE LOOKING FOR SHOULD
BE HERE PLEASE CONTACT
THE SITE OWNER
A"
I found this by ciphering what info we had from their website, where they put Twitter, Facebook, and Google + in those characters. This is my first ever post on unFiction, so please, if I mess up (say with the spoiler tag, revealing too much info, etc.), let me know. I'll edit, I'll fix. I am deeply intrigued by ARGs and I'm really excited to maybe get started on this one.

Those are the characters on other pages! But the ones on the home page actually translate to:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
HELLO THERE
HIDDEN IN THIS WEBSITE
THERE ARE TEN EASTER EGGS
SOME ARE ACESSIBLE NOW HERE
OTHERS WILL BE HINTED AT
OUR SOCIAL MEDIA
HAPPY HUNTING
edit:
Figured out how to see all of the text at once. A bit more legible now.
Five found so far!

(stuff was in the way so I didn't get quite all of it...)
Found 2 easter eggs so for! Excited for this to drop.
Since I'm so new, I could maybe use a little help. Maybe IM me if you don't want to spell it all out in the thread, but
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
I've found out the really easy answers to the Facebook/Twitter puzzles (just finished performing in Hamlet, ironically), but when I try to input the answers into the URL, I keep getting the same 404 message. What am I missing?
Thanks for the help on the other text, by the way! I was having trouble seeing it behind the text.

No problem! I ran into the same issue-- the key is
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
to put the keyword directly after the url, with nothing else. For example "http://dancingm.com/test" would work, but "http://dancingm.com/test.html" would not.
And I should add, as a rule of thumb, to check out the source code on any special pages you find on sites like that one. A lot of things may be hidden in the margins!

Thanks for the suggestion! That helped a ton! Not sure if the easter eggs house any clues themselves, but I really enjoyed the easter egg's easter eggs.

Just found answer 9. I'll go through the rest tomorrow in daylight. Nothing creepier than playing an ARG alone in the dark.
Question 9

Well, That's Neat! According to DancingM
Quote:
All 10 are out . Find them all and you find her before we start tomorrow.
Good luck.
I have 6-10 on the Twitter/Facebook feed, but where are the first 5? Any suggestions?

Sorry to keep posting, but I found #5.
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
It links to hackertyper.com, which seems...odd. It links you to a bunch of retail sites, which seems...odder.
Not sure what to make of this.

I've got 1, 2, 6, 7, 8, 9, and 10. Curious about 3, 4, and 5.
I know the people who are running this one. We played Endgame: Ancient Societies together.

I've found everything but 4 and 5, and I think I've got our mystery character.
No clue what to do with that name, however...
edit: some heavy hinting to another player on twitter helped me find four. Definitely have our character name now.

Sorry for double posting, but-
If you've found the name of our protagonist, she now has accounts on all three of the Dancing M's social media sites.
If you're still looking:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Check for loose letters in the easter eggs, then see the number code posted earlier.

I found the protagonist a while ago through non-traditional means (knowing someone who figured it out on Twitter). However, I kept searching. Found 3 and 4. 4 is pretty clever and was found VERY early in this thread.
Curious if anyone has clues on 5. It's the only one I've got left.

If you want to know about 5:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
If you email the site owner, you'll get a response with a brutally obvious clue. He spells out another / hint. It was the most puzzling egg for me because I can't find the use.
If you just want an answer,
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
it's /hacker .
ETA: So, if you're following our mystery person, she
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Apparently works at St Luke's Hospital in Chicago, IL, which was founded in 1864, but their name changed in 1969. Odd. It's in the National Record of Historic Places ca. 1982. Anyone know how to go forward from here?
