The first pass of substitutions gave me enough that I think it is meant to say the following, but I'm not sure where the substitutions are coming from:

I've tried to treat it as a Vigenere cipher, but it also has odd spacing which might mean an extra step is involved.

 		Hey - I've been following this thread and trying to figure out what's going on and have finally decided to join with you guys to help solve it (I'm getting nowhere on my own!).

I've physically visited the Auckland University City campus, but haven't found anything clue-like. I get the feeling that October 21 might be the day that things start to happen (links to another post on another forum where something's meant to happen on Oct 21st).

Also, are we all getting the same pictures? They're numbered, maybe we're getting different ones and we have to put them together to work out what it means?

EDIT ADDITION: I think "viam seqventibvs planare" from my rudimentary Italian and English means like so:

via means 'way'

sequenti sounds like sequential which means following

planare is an infinitive verb "to plane" or "to make flat"

So I think it means "to make flat for the following the way" or "to flatten the way for the following".

 		phew, solved the not-railfence one. The way it was posted in HTML source as a comment meant an ambiguous number of spaces at the end. Here's how I solved, with the answer below that.

I took the comment string

and used an underscore for the blanks, to be certain my tools were not skipping them.

In the end, it was important to use only 113 not 114 characters.
It was a simple "skip" cipher, and the tool I used was
http://rumkin.com/tools/cipher/skip.php

Then, the solution:

So, that's progress.

I'm not giving them my email or phone number, I'm not signing up for interaction. I'll follow the tumblr and twitter feeds when I have the time. I'm in this just for the cipher puzzles, for now.

I emailed and received 2 answers, one of which asks me to check around and see if anyone has heard of the Summertime Girl or Million Dollar Poem, "preferably those two at the same time." and mentions Pit and Ket- which is yet a third character.

The second asks me to tell about myself. I am certain I am missing a lot of clues and answers.

I'm wondering if I can guess a second email address using the first we were given.

Has anyone addressed the Tumblr blurb:

"The password is the three words for contact."

That's curious.

 		progress made with the ciphertext on solarballroom but incomplete.

Firstly I'm doing this with the unformatted version of the text as it appears in multiple locations within the HTML source. Then I did a frequency analysis to determine that it was likely shifted, so I switched it to
(ROT-13):
tihedotalac tsK edonep n ashtKc ee ptdlq aKaha s era luerKneliwvelw aitK ll h eckemrg Kgp norii'eehwKe te ya l dti

Then, I cut the lines at each appearance of the uppercase K (X in the original), and tried reading down the columns. This would be a skip cipher, if we had exactly the same lengths between markers, so I tried padding with dots.

Doing a left-align, i see /I CAN GE/HE HELP / but the rest looks garbled.

Doing a right-align, and start reading from the right column, i see /START_WI/TH_EIGHT/_SQUARED/CALL_ME_/ and more misaligned text. The word EVERY is also in there, and maybe SPECIAL, but it's poorly formatted.


I would post blocks of text, but the 'code' tag overrides the spoiler tag. Play with it yourself until you get a really good answer for me.
