 		#6 is a substitution cipher using a strange alphabet.

#7 is a very unique substitution cipher, using syllable (sound), in place of letters.

neither is easy to do by hand, especially #7.

I used the second website in SI's list of websites.

Using "any other IRC client" should work, but it needs to know which server your channel is in. For example, I use mIRC to hang out in #unfiction on irc.chat-solutions.org all day. To join your chat, I need to specify freenode.net before I can /join #zmdecoded

p.s. I'm only here for the puzzles. I'm swamped with other activities this weekend, but I'll keep an eye out here for the leftovers. Be specific about which ciphers are still unsolved, and I'll jump back in on Monday.

 		Bang Head I did #7 the long way round. Converted to Morse then cryptogram. Well, it worked except for period and comma.

 		With the assist from booba (thank you) on 10 and 18, that gave me all of them. Here are the ciphers with the methods to decode:

THIS CHAPTER TELLS OF THE DISCOVERY OF THE TREASURE

2 (Baconian): THE SUN RISES IN THE EAST AND REFLECTS OFF THE YELLOW SAND THE WIND BLOWS ACROSS THE ENDLESS GOLDEN SEA I SQUINT MY EYES AGAINST THE HARSH LIGHT AND THERE IN THE DISTANCE I SEE SOMETHING

3 (reverse): What is it? I hope to all the old Gods that it is water. My mouth is dry...I will surely die if I do not find water soon.

4 (trithemius): I MOVE CLOSER AND SEE THE FRESH BLUE. I THROW MYSELF INTO THE LIQUID AND DRINK AS THOUGH I'VE NEVER DRUNK BEFORE.

5 (scytale): THE SUN IS BEGINNING TO SET. I MUST FIND SHELTER QUICKLY.

6 (tomtom): THERE ARE VARIOUS PALM TREES ALL AROUND , BIG SMALL BIG SMALL BIG SMALL . A PERFECT PATTERN . STRANGE

7 (codex copiale): I AM ABLE TO CLIMB UP AND BREAK OOF SOME OF THE FRONDS. THESE WILL MAKE FOR A FINE SHELTER AND CCULD EVEN BE USED FOR A FIRE

8 (hex): I decide to make a fire first as the cold desert night could kill me.

9 (letter to number): I HURRIEDLY MAKE A FIRE THE DARKNESS IS CREEPING UP QUICKLY

10 (base32): I've decided to sleep under this strange shaped rock. It has an over hang that I can use to hang my fronds off of and create a fine shelter.

11 (Arabic): I sleep.

12 (Zulu): and sleep.

13 (Greek): And sleep.

14 (Morse): THEN I AWAKEN. IT IS MORNING

15 (monoalphabetic substitution): I survived the night and now I am hungry. I know I must go and find safety, but the writing on the rock stops me.

16 (octal): I spend a few hours trying to decipher its meaning.

17 (skip 2): I found it! This is it. What I've searched for all my life.

18 (Bifid): The Zena Treasure.


A note on #1 since it seemed to be causing a lot of trouble:

"Zena Manuscript" is included uncoded at the beginning of the clue because you should use it as the key.


I entered all of the messages at zmdecoded and I'll post as soon as I hear back.

What site did you use? I was here, http://www.dcode.fr/adfgvx-cipher#0 altothough it difinitely could have been operator error on my part. Definitely.

There's also an obituary that for some reason didn't reach the front page for me.

Clicking on the blue box brings you to a wall of text. From there, clicking on play brings you to a Flash Mario Level Editor game? I have a metric shit ton of studying to do right now so I will not be able to even try to decode the site or play the game.

 		So if you go to the Mario game, go to "Load Game" and paste in the code from the wall of text, you're taken to a game called "Dearestcat". I assume something will happen if we can beat the level. But I cannot play Mario with just my arrow keys well enough to beat the level.

 		Oops, I lied.
I got so caught up in the site that I decided to abandon my studying for a little.
The title text on the site is Hexadecimal (I believe. I used a Text2Hex thing and I have no idea what Hex stands for) and decodes to:

Then, the blue text is Decimal and converts to

Finally, that wall of text was a code that I used to load a level on the Mario game called "dearestcat". The only thing of use that I found was the word "TREASURE" when you enter the bonus zone through the warp pipe. No idea where to go next. We already knew there was a treasure so why does X feel the need to tell us again? I've gotta be missing something.
