I sent an email to Noah sugesting that maybe Kiara was never missing and is just in another plane of existance. Also asking if anything strange happened on one of the days there, specifically 2 days before he found that clue. He replied saying he will get back to me if he found anything.

Postcards
December 31, 2015

My Christmas mail included a letter from my sister filled with family gossip that is now a year old, including the news that my sister is/was pregnant and I am now most likely an uncle. I guess I have something to look forward to when I leave.

There were also two unaddressed postcards in my mail, which I can only assume were put there by Kiara, but how and why?

Here they are. The first one will come as no surprise:

one
oaqaetq

The second postcard contained a quotation which I'm sure you'll recognize. The only question is, what in the hell does it mean?

A legend is sung of when England was young,
And Knights were brave and bold.
The good King had died,
and no one could decide
Who was rightful heir to the Throne.

I think we need to find out what: oaqaetq means, but I have no idea how to do this

My brain wants to read that as an acrostic, something like this:
Once A Queen, Always Expect The Queen.
or
Order Any Quantity And Everyone Takes Quantity.

Greta sighed. "Okay, Kiara, I will give you the password to the cockpit."

"You mean the combination?"

Greta shook her head. "No, no, it's nothing like that. You stand under the cage and say a word."

"That's it? A word? That doesn't seem very secure."

"It's not a word anyone is likely to guess. Not only that, but once you get past the entrance there are a dozen other layers of security."

So, we need to figure out the password for the cockpit. I dunno what it is. Fibonacci? Once and future king? Merlin? I dunno. I sent a couple emails, but he still hasn't got back to me.
'oaqaetq'

Hi all.

Sorry I haven't posted for a while - Christmas and New Year is a busy time for all!

I had some e-mail contact with Noah before Christmas, where he wrote:

Quote:
I agree that the tarot cards I found in Kiara's desk seem to relate to the four elements. As for the letters oaqaetq, I have no idea what they could mean. Another person emailed me recently to decode a message that Kiara left with the cards. She said she used a cryptogram solver. Do you think something like that might work?

I asked which particular cipher we might use, and he replied:

Quote:
Maybe the one that was used for the last puzzle solve? Is there anyone you can ask about that? She mentioned that she was in touch with some people from the outside. She didn't tell me the name of the cipher, but she relayed a message back to me about the translation.

I tried using the exact substitution, but as far as I can tell 'oaqaetq' becomes 'pb?bdu?' where ? is represented by q, and is either j, x, or z.

pbjbduj, pbxbdux, pbzbduz? They mean nothing to me!
Cryptogram Solutions

Using a cryptogram solver to try to solve 'oaqaetq' I found the following words:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):

resents

payably
reseals
genevan
deserts
mitiest
manakin

unsnaps
fuguing

lamaism
pesetas
tagalog

Anyone see any link to the legend of Arthur or the goddess Danu in there?!

Dunno

Well, Lamaism is a from of Buddhism, but I'm not sure that means anything.

Photo clues on Liddlebrook Station wordpress site..

So, why is Greta calling Noah, "Kiara"? ( I just emailed him asking him if he noticed this)

Progress?

I noticed that too - although whoever is writing, Greta says she will tell them the password, and we know that Noah does not know the password.

I took it as meaning that the notebook accounts are from Kiara's notebook (we know that Noah found some of Kiara's documents), which presumably means that the earlier entry about the old man's dreams also referred to Kiara, and not Noah?

Anyway, I MAY have made some progress on 'oaqaetq':

Spoiler (Rollover to View):

The grid has 24 squares, and 'no A no Z' would seem to suggest each square represents one of the other letters.

Simply putting the letters B to Y into the grid left to right, downwards, means that the numbers give the following letters:

DEEPRRU

Taking the format of oaqaetq, the a and the q must represent the e or the r, so you get ?ere??r or ?rer??e

The letters can be used to form the name Peredur, an Arthurian knight from Welsh romances: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peredur_son_of_Efrawg

When his father died, his mother took him into the woods to keep him safe. In other words, 'he took refuge in the woods'.

I have e-mailed Noah to ask him to try that particular word - we shall see.

Hat tip to Nashman88 !!

To confirm your work:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Running oaqaetq thru a keyed caesar with the keyword five gives up
peredur .

That method only gives a partial solve on:
rnlbaney gbqb vhrgbr lb ebfe fme h sghmj h jmnv vgn hs hr ats h ltrs khub knmd bmntdg sn wknrb sgb nobmhmd fme rsno sgb shlb rbptbmwb ltrs mnshcy jbk

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
But fawe does. There must be another process that might work on both .

Sadly, some of us may have seen that solve in our fumblings and not recognized it Sad

Doh!

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
The tarot cards are in the order spear, sword, grail, stone.

That is to say, Fire, Air, Water and Earth.

So fawe was the keyword for that puzzle, and five is the keyword for this one.

Had a reply from Noah. Will spoiler tag, since he mentions the suggested word:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Peredur! Okay, I will. I have an opportunity later today. In the meantime I will post more entries from Kiara's notebooks.
Thanks again for your help!
Sincerely,
-Noah

That was AFTER the updates of notebook 3 and 4, so here's hoping we'll get even more this afternoon! Smile

Just pointing out...

The kel password option has vanished from the blog. Probably of no significance, but just wanted to point that out.

KEY (5): axoknrgua

KEYBOARD ENTRY #2:

I wonder if we take the extra letters from the words and decrypt them.

SROED HWWALAZZOM

Not sure what form of decoding we should use. The key says (5) so I wonder if we ROT the key first...I'll try some things but I just wanted to share my thoughts!

So, this is probably a terrible idea, but, there has been a lot of focus on Arthurian mythology. I was thinking, when he talked about the key in the block of granite, it sounded familiar. Well, it seems like the sword in the stone. The key is Excalibur. But guys... the key is Excalibur.

Probably not.

Well, that theory seemed good at the time. Probably not correct, but if you guys build on it or something... Well, yeah. Figured I may as well let you guys know. I mean the key in the granite block seems to hint at something sword in the stone related, but i'll keep digging.
Edit:
So, in latin the sword is called: Caliburnus, but it still doesn't solve the cipher posed above. We may just have the wrong cipher, or this theory is wrong. Probably the latter. The key in the granite seems very telling though... Ah well.

Key

If you use the same method as before on the key in the level one report you get

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
explosive

Not sure what that means though...

[EDIT]

Using the same method again with

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
explosive
gives

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
fueal oxxidizzer.

That is dangerously close to 'fuel' and 'oxidizer', both of which make up rocket propellant, which is often explosive. Given the nature of Liddlebrook station, I'm tempted to argue that this is the answer and the extra letters were simply mistakes on the part of the PM.

After all, it's easy to see how the W and Z in keyboard entry 2 could be duplicated accidentally, and removing those gives oxidizer exactly.

Also, notebook 5 had a few spelling/grammatical errors as well, so - that's my 2 pennies worth.

I haven't e-mailed yet, but if someone posts that they agree with me then I will.

If that IS the case, it really isn't a big deal, but I would urge the PM to take their time - I would rather wait an extra day for the puzzle if it means it is encrypted properly! Smile
