EDIT: I also found this text (image attached).. this lead me to a formerly Top Secret CIA document in the real world.. Weird >.<

CIA Doc (note that the text is identical including the slash-through the word SECRET): http://www.foia.cia.gov/sites/default/files/document_conversions/14/esau-42.pdf

Wow, that's a nice discovery! Exact the same!
So now I wonder
1) how BR / Credit Designer came to this document
2) why for the sanity of the world he choose this one for using in a minimalistic outro of a movie, where every little detail have a huge meaning? I mean, Intelligence Report by CIA "The Commited Church and Change in Latin America"??? You cannot simply stumble upon this document in the search for some stock images for the movie credits.

Here for your reference:

P.S. Another - lame - possibility would be: "C'mon, build in some fully unrelated elements, so the viewers and players would argue for years about the meaning of this sh*t". I hope, this is not how BR works, it would be just arrogant. No no no.

P.P.S. Why all this wasn't found last 9 years?
P.P.P.S. How many weird undiscovered things are still in the movie to be found?

i wonder why canada is the only other country with a website (on 10cloverfieldlane.com). It's english and has the same release date so is there any actual difference between the american page and the canadian one? Canada has hella french stuff going on so i guess that's a thing but idk seems like if theyre pushing the french thing at us France should have its own page not Canada.

My guess is that the artist that did the credits did some search for "top secret government document" or something random like that just to add little thematic effects to the credits.

I think a big reason why this stuff wasn't found back in 2008 was because there's no way anyone could catch single frame stuff like this in the theaters, and even on DVD the text is too grainy to be legible. The Blu Ray didn't come out until later in the year so I think by then all the hype for the movie had pretty much died down and no-one was going frame by frame through anything.

For comparison, people DID find the single frames of King Kong and other famous monsters from movie history on the DVD, but the difference there is that you can totally tell what they were, even on the DVD quality (whereas the text we are looking at now is really only readable in HD).

Anyway, just a theory! It's crazy that we're turning up all this stuff years after the fact... it actually does make me wonder whether or not there are any other teeny little details we've missed!

Oh yes! The whole party scene contains tons of stickers, posters, notes in Robs apartment. I think I should rewatch the movie in BluRay with pausing Smile

I think it has to do with the release strategy. Different parts of the world get movies on different dates. Perhaps Canada is part of the release handled by Paramount. When it's released overseas it might be handled by a different company. (This is a very simplified explanation of movie politics)

Getting too into why things are different in Canada would be exhausting for all of us so I'll try to keep it brief but yeah, media things are hella complicated here.

Think of it like neigboring police forces with seperate jurisdictions and legalites when it comes to cases... Except apply it to every single media property you can think of. Everything from commercials to major motion pictures. Then add in the CRTC on top of that - a governing body that tightly controls all broadcasting and communications in Canada. Cell phone signals to movie distrubution. It's... Exhausting. And stupid. But it's home!

Oh, same in Germany. Everything is controlled by a special law..And if the German jurisdiction cannot cover it, European Union does. And we have the premiere of the movie end of the March, which is even almost too good.

Beside of it, I've heard JJ wanted to establish worldwide simultaneous movie starts. Which still doesn't work because of various local regulation. Just wanted to add it, in the perfect world of JJ this would be normal way of things.

Ducky ?

Just doing some searching, and came across the word "Ducky" in the poster.jpg file posted on the 10CL website.

www.10cloverfieldlane.com/images/10cl_poster.jpg

I think it's not leading anywhere ARG-related.

But...

If you google "Ducky Cloverfield", 2 websites come up related to a neighborhood park in Minnesota

- and the only pictures on those websites are about drinking Surly beer

(nothing much else to do in Minnesota, I suppose).

Surly beer, though, is a real product/brewery in Minnesota.

Nope nope nope. Photoshop does this. It's part of its program ID, like a watermark, I think. It's visible in all image files created with a certain version in a certain way. (I'm not certain of the details, but trust me, it's everywhere.)

Super behind on all this but, it does feel like everything is kind-of slowing down. Especially on the Reddit end. I should just hang out here with you guys haha. Anyway, is SwampPop still a lead? Are we still going with the puzzle pieces and has anything else come to light? I skimmed through from my last post to now (about 10 pages) and it doesn't seem like there's anything too crazy.

I'm slowly reading back through it (I'm at work right now haha), but I don't even remember the names of all the people who were around back then. It's been a while.

There was another tweet from @10CloverfieldLn but again it is only a 30sec teaser clip from the trailer.

Seemingly still nothing to advance the possibility of an ARG.
