So, is the floral crown maybe Dogwood?

I've never heard of yellow dogwood flowers before, just white or pink. The wreath in the photo looks like it's made of faux flowers, and I can't tell what the yellow petals are. Orchids maybe? The little balls on the stems look like they are maybe supposed to be rose hips. I can't discount the idea of an Easter connection, but first communion crowns are always white.

There are yellow dogwood but not commonly - those definitely aren't roses, but maybe yellow magnolias? Still southern. They DEFINITELY look like magnolias. The standout thing about them is their thick, dense petals. And those berries.

I keep wanting that front page of 16 images to be a visual puzzle. I've tried to think about the words related to the images, but i get no good progress towards an acrostic. Then I started to wonder: Why are there two cats? Two images use that rainbow loom craft stuff. Could we pair the images up? Two images have beads with letters on them, although I would rather that second one be more about the star-shaped boxes or the music notes which are more promiment. The jewelry box looked like it had bracelets in it, but at least one thing in there looks more like a headband -- and if the wreath is another head/hair accesory, I could make those a pair. The ice cream sundae is really tough to pair, as are the Eiffel Tower and the paint-splattered shoes. OK, maybe there isn't a matching game here after all? Wishful thinking?

Ah. I'm not convinced that the balls on stems are part of the same floral stems as the yellow petals. Since they're faux, I get the impression that they're two different stems put together to make this crown. That being said, I'm also not convinced that the type of flower used has any significance at all.

Knitty

The address is what rings my bells. They're a real band, and quite good, it just is strange.

I like this thinking. For me, what stands out is the fact that the 2nd column of pictures (ice cream, computer, magazine, Eiffel Tower) seem like oddballs in every row. All of the other pictures have a general craft/twee theme.

But, there are lots of specific commonalities like you observed:

Flowers
Looms/ribbons
Beads/jewelry
Cats

other random thoughts:
The 'paint' picture is thematically crafty, but I can't match it up with anything else.

The jewelry in the box w/ the mirror includes "seed beads" -- the garland/egg picture includes what looks like "seed ribbon" around the egg.

The bunkbed picture is also kind of an outlier, except it could be a tween girls room (albeit a pretty bland one).

Of course, given that we've already been pointed to the significance of the Eiffel Tower, that may be the only truly relevant picture, with all the others being 'flavor.'

I'm sure this is all crap but..

The license plate appears to be SCH 3N38 or SCH 3438

Typing SCH3938 led me to this which is a bunch of confusing mumbo jumbo. I'm not good at "computers" but I figured someone else might make something out of it.

It isn't bunk beds, grrrrr! Probably just semantics possibly unimportant to the game (and only to me) but it is a LOFT bed. There is a big difference between the two.

Have you resized the page? The 4x4 layout is not preserved, but it does force itself to flow into 2x8, never 3 across. The order of the images is always sequential as well (which is just a consequence of standard HTML flow). If the 4-in-a-row idea were part of the puzzle, I think that would have been maintained with a table or fixed-width layout.

An alternative idea i'm playing with is in the predominant color(s) of each image. The LOFT bed has a blue wall and blue bed covers, for example. It's still subject to interpretation, which would make it a poor puzzle mechanic.

If the employees were/are 'sequentially numbered' (mayhaps the meaning of '4813' - that might be Howards number), then perhaps Howard knew who '4767' was?

It's circling around us, I'll wager...

This is interesting. Did you get to this point by considering Sarah Foster being 4232?

Totally missed that. Thanks for showing it.

Hm, yeah we're kinda back at this number.. 4813
Or as Swamp Pop would see it: 4.8.13 (which would tie in with the cut from the movie 4 cut 8 cut 1 already pressed and 3)

48 Butterfly's on FAPS, her 13th birthday

Maybe Howards employee number. It was told Tagruato holds over 10k employees.

Edit:

About the timeline of events: I just think that the shelter situation inside the movie did not happened "yet". At least it would explain why Howard can be employee of the month. Just guessing.

2nd Passphrase: I was searching for Papillon (Butterfly) and Paris. Some restaurants, an Opera, Garden of Papillons. I just thought of the Star Trek ARG were this strange Romulan artefact was located in a small bistro/restaurant in Paris (Rue de Presles).

Edit 2:

Oh..i didn't know that..

This is a great find! Nicely done Kajisan! This makes me think a lot more about the message Howard is trying to convey in his image choices. Before, I just chalked it up to either being Fun and/or Pretty...but now I believe there's more to it.

in the image? I count fewer than that, maybe only 40, including partials. (updated) OK, maybe *almost* 48, but it's hard to see some of the blue-on-blue ones.

4813

Okay, this could be wild speculation. I was thinking again about 4813 and converting it to letters (DHM or DHAC). If you take out the 13 (her 13th birthday) you're left with 48 or DH. I landed on the Diffie-Hellman key exchange . It explicitly noted in the wiki article how it can keep eavesdroppers from deciphering it, and immediately thought of the mother they're keeping their "little secret" from.

I'm not sure HOW exactly we could use it, but maybe applying it to the pics on FAPT could give us something.

I could also have way overthought this whole thing.

Why would she need to solve a difficult puzzle to remind her of her 13th secret b-day present?

It is, yeah like a puzzle..in form of pictures.

48 Butterfly's (a common wall art, i even remember my former boss wife had these on her wall)

Heart of Chicago

Ice cream:

I have a question.. why are they altering the photo background from the ice cream? It's a shutterstock pic..but why the circumstances just for the ice. Maybe it show's a room or restaurant?

Sorry..i am hungry. Razz

Just joking. What i want to say is that this pictures "may" lead to a place in Chicago. But this is pure speculation.

Edit: @Iron - Oh, interesting! Sadly i can't help on stuff like this. Wink
