Slusho started with Alias I believe, but has appeared on a variety of shows/films (I know you know that, don't need to tell me). As for TBBT, Star Wars and TBBT are geek properties, and SW is a MAJOR known pop-culture thing.

Cloverfield is a basic monster flick, and in no where the same league. Geeks aren't even the target audience. I seriously doubt they have a cross promotion going on between these two. But I guess we will just have to wait and see. I wouldn't think "Pretty in Pink" and 10CL would have a commonality, but the timing seems to work for a trailer drop. Of course, that's a bit more obvious of a connection given that they basically handed that majorly well known pop-culture fragment to us. Not enough that I am certain it will be a trailer drop, but enough that I'm like "oooooo" lol

And I never called you an idiot or crazy. Sigh. But surely you must understand, reading your posts, why I took it as you were saying the "big secret" has something to do with Cloverfield.

Sorry, I'm just frustrated. And *I* don't even want this to be what's actually happening. It's just a possibility that's not completely unlikely, and right now we got nothing but possibilities.

And like the *confirmed* things we have don't make any sense! Like you said, the Pretty in Pink thing none of us would ever connect - if it weren't explicitly connected.

Only connection to Cloverfield is it's a CBS Paramount property with an 30th anniversary in the next few days.

I thought a Superbowl ad was nuts, but there it was, also on CBS.

Well, Big Bang theory is CBS Paramount too, makes just *slightly* more sense, has a giant audiance and also has a big star studded 200th episode coming up soon.

Shrug. I dunno. I don't want that to be what's happening, but it's not out of the realm of possibilities.

EDIT: Just remembered that Chuck Lorre worked on Roseanne, and there have been a bunch of Roseanne actors on it, but not John Goodman yet. And of course, Duckie was on his other show, also on CBS. Ugh. I'm sorry, I can't unthink it all.

I'm not convinced about the location of the Eiffel tower picture yet.
The background indeed seems to resemble the view from the Observatory towards Mount Hollywood. Mount Hollywood being the high peak we see on the right side of the Eiffel Tower.
The mountain ridge on the left side should then be the mountain ridge where the Hollywood sign is located and the radio tower. For this to be true both the sign and the radio tower would have to be cut off the picture to get this result. What worries me about this theory is that behind the Eiffel tower on the right side, in the middle of the tower, we see a house next to it. You can clearly see a window or door in the façade and the terrace in front of it. Between the observatory, mount Hollywood, and the Hollywood sign there on houses or structures whatsoever except for the round buildings. Which I think are water-tanks. But the building in the fapt picture is clearly not round.
The picture taken from the Greek theater, which also resembles the background of the Eiffel Tower picture a lot, can't be directed in the direction of the observatory. The person taking the picture is standing between the seats of the audience, taking the picture towards the stage. If you look closely on Google maps you see that this line of view isn't in the direction of the observatory, mounds Hollywood, or the Hollywood sign at all. It is not possible at all to see the Hollywood sign from the Greek theater. Since the Greek theater is lower than the observatory, the hill on which observatory is placed would block the view towards the Hollywood sign.
Yet, it seems to be we're looking at the same Mountain in the theater and the observatory pictures. Both mountains just resemble each other.
I'm beginning to worry this is all a case of Apophenia, indeed. Us wanting to see resemblances where there just aren't any to see.
Funny thing is, the FAPT picture did remind me a lot about those vague UFO 'spotted' pictures, wear there is a tiny dot in the background, which is supposed to be a UFO. If you look at the FAPT picture, you see a spot above the mountain ridge on the left side of the Eiffel Tower.

Here are a couple of pictures isolating the whatits under the Eiffel tower, I converted it to greyscale (that seems to help bring out any details) and messed with contrast, highlights and shadows. IMO it is definitely an 8 point star (as are "most" compass roses) inside of a circle with a laurel around it, also I see what looks like a separation line on the right side just below the tower legs, that looks like (to me) where a lid would match up to a container, and the whatits seems to bulge out some under the line.

Then again I could just be nuts

No I think you're right. That's really clarified to me that it's an eight point star not a five point one. The Texas seal is definitely pretty similar, on the right track but not right.

Nothing we've found is quite right. Sigh.

Eight point star/compass with laurel is not turning up much. Which might be a good thing. When we find it we'll know...

And it'll turn out to be some meaningless junk from Walmart, given everything else we've found.

Interesting Casting Call

A Reddit user who works at a theater screened the new trailer and posted this to r/movies:

Apparently it's a single frame that flashes before the rest of the Super Bowl trailer plays. He responded in a thread in the r/10cloverfieldln sub saying that this was the clearest frame and the only difference he noticed.

If you look closely there is a hand written number "5742" circled next to the picture of the ship.

Reddit users think they have identified the ship, but there are two conflicting reports. Check their discussion on that issue here:

Apparently the two ships that they think it is both have ties to the date of May 7, 1942 (5742).

This is the third 4 digit number we've been given: 4318, 4232, 5742.

It's far from confirmed yet, but if true means there's more clues incoming soon, via wherever those 4 trailers end up. Maybe a bunch of places? Like TBBT, Deadpool AND Pretty in Pink? They dropped 4 million+ for the Super Bowl, seems like they're not cheaping out on media buys. Besides, if it's all distributed by CBS Paramount (with exception of Deadpool), it's practically money laundering.

The Lexington was an aircraft Carrier (CV).. not the destroyer in that pic..

It was also the last day of the Battle of Coral Sea..


Just because it was filmed in New Orleans does not mean it takes place there as well.. many Hollywood productions were moved to that area over the last few years.. My brother is a special fx set designer and has had to fly there twice in the last few years for miniature modeling in a few big flicks. Its done for cheaper production costs..
