I think Howard has missed a lot of clues about his relationships. Noticed in trailer 1 that he is wearing a wedding ring. If that is part of character, then he is holding onto some strange hopes as it seems his wife has left and thinks he's paranoid nutso.

We know Megan is at least 13, and probably older since it seems she is supposed to be able to remember the Y2k hoopla. Howard keeps saying the mother is preventing her from contacting him- but any kid these days over, say, 14 can find a way to communicate on the internet. I don't think Howard has heard from her in a long time, and is not doing the math about her likes and abilities at this point.

I think the statement about not being able to live with himself if he goes into the bunker and does not know she is safe gives a good idea of his dangerous mental state in the movie.

 		Now that Howard has confirmed the bunker is behind the house, I'm convinced in my earlier hypothesis: the MEW has some kind of encounter outside while trying to escape (JG? JGJ? MGP?), is running back to the safety of the bunker when she sees the glow (Howard's white flash?) and that said glow is actually rising up from the bunker. I believe the mysterious blue barrel is our main connection to the original CF (seeing as there was nothing like that in the Cellar script) and that it's contents are directly related to said glow.

If we are to see a return of MGP, the confirmed New Orleans location also makes much more sense being closer to the coast than upstate NY or WI.

I remember the original Cloverfield ARG having about a 1 week update cycle, too, with occasionally longer lulls. Based on that, I was assuming we'd get something today or tomorrow, and sure enough we did. Plus, calendar-wise today is exactly one month until the movie release.

The OOG links I remember from the first Cloverfield ARG were, of course, the Myspace pages, which I think we assumed were placed via BR being in cahoots with Myspace, and the fake restaurant review where we learned about the seabed nectar. Those were pretty tame compared to some of the sites we were pointed to today. Shocked

Once I saw the glut of obviously OOG links in today's update, it left me also feeling like I'm better off spectating than actively scouring for clues. I've already kind of burned out on trying to figure out what the secret 13th birthday present was, and assume that when and if it's time for us to know, it won't take CIA-level skulduggery to figure it out. We'll see...

Same. I feel simultaneously excited that we may get new info every week and disappointed that it seems more and more like there is no real puzzle that we need to search for clues to.

I will probably keep looking, but back off a lot, too. I can't see myself spending an hour looking for what Megan's 13th Bday present was any more.

Oh, and the outsider's theory about the storyline is pretty close to what I was concocting in my head. I'm on board with that one, totally.

I feel like the Howard Stambler Twitter account might be legit. "He" posted a recipe for Spaghetti Salad yesterday, and it looks like the cast was eating that in the first trailer.

Am I overthinking?

Now that this has launched faster than a Rocketpoppeteer do any of you guys use twitter? The Cloverfield ARG days were some of the best times with some of the coolest people on Unforums. if any of you do I'm at twitter.com/TeleCineBlog. I never thought we'd be back here. 500 Rads was a bust and Super 8 didn't really compare to Cloverfield, but here we are!

He could mean the monster is coming, and they are dropping bombs where he previously was as part of the cover up too, maybe he thinks the Soviets are behind the monster I dunno...


I'm leaning towards that...for example, his FaPT link-post mentions 'someone controlling the weather and/or skies'.

 		Yeah, I'm keeping my eye on the twitter site. Corporate args tend to use social media sites these days as much as game jackers & indies do because it's a good cost cutting measure (says Debbie the arg downer).

Anyways, the fact that it's just a weird recipe and not leading us all on a wild goose chase is actually a good sign. Also the fact that they guessed right that he's in New Orleans and a prepper. Maybe it's Howard's signature dish? The script actually makes cracks about him being a poor cook. Well, we'll know if it's IG soon enough.

I defintiely agree Howard seems to see his grown daughter as a child still, poor guy. I think I've been saying that for a long while now, but now it's confirmed *looks smug*

The way he keeps calling her Radiogirl has me convinced we're going to find social media for her eventually, under that name.

I wonder if our (as players/observers) "goal" for this is not just to find Megan, but to try to connect Megan with Howard before it's too late (which we know is a fools errand). Maybe that's why we can't crack the password yet - we shouldn't be trying to impersonate her, we should be trying to help them? Would be consistant with the past arg.
