I don't know that it's going to be a direct sequel. My theory is that it's a new monster of the same species and origin as Clover; hence, "blood relative". John Goodman's character could have built his bunker after the events of the first film, in anticipation of something like that happening again (his bunker does look fully formed, or at least something that he couldn't have whipped together over night, given the blast door). I think it will be tied to the original film in some way, if not directly.

For instance, when the trailer for Super 8 premiered, it was believed to be a sequel or prequel to Cloverfield. It's easy to see why people initially thought that it was; it was a new monster movie from a director who just released a successful monster movie and the teaser was mysterious. JJ Abrams made a quick statement denying its association when, realistically, he could have inserted the Cloverfield name in the title, given the same "blood relative" explanation, and it would have been believable enough.

This time, however, the name is right there in the title, with JJ admitting to at least some form of relation. The green sky in the poster, the font, the teaser that just showed up out of nowhere, "some THING is coming", the fact that it's playing in IMAX, the updating of the budget, etc. If the film doesn't take as large of a scale as the first one (i.e.: no cities being demolished over the course of 90 minutes), then, like another poster stated, that $100 million budget still most likely went to film some sort of action, and the decision to play it in IMAX cements it. Given that, I don't think the name "Cloverfield" was inserted into the title for the hell of it. It may not be a direct sequel in the sense that it follows the events of the first film, but I can't buy that it has nothing to do with the first film whatsoever. Abrams is smart, and he wouldn't have put "Cloverfield" in the title for the hell of it.

Wow. It's good to be back after 8 years and see some familiar names. I don't know what (if anything) we're in for, but I'm ready. I even remembered my password!

I will say, whatever the association with the original Cloverfield turns out to be, the trailer definitely makes me want to see this movie.

Just for kicks, I checked the old Tagruato and Slusho sites, but nothing appears to be updated. It's awesome that they've kept them up all these years. I also fired off emails to the contact emails there just for fun. I'll post here if I get any replies.

If I'm not mistaken, weren't the only viral sites at the time of the Cloverfield teaser's debut the 1-18-08.com and Slusho websites? I seem to remember other sites like Tagruato not appearing for a while, and TIDOWave appearing even later on than that. There may still be hope for an ARG.

So funny that this trailee pops, and all i can think of is "well, guess i will have to make a new unfiction acct."

Googlemaps has several locations for 10 cloverfield ln, if some of you sluthier types want to check them out. The only one i thought maybe of interest was one in Springfield. But none in NY... also looked for one in Valencia, but no luck.

I sorta doubt any big ARG association with this, but would be disappointed if Bad Robot did not leave ANY breadcrumbs.

Chronlogically, i believe the scene where they are makin pb sandwiches happens AFTER she hjts him with the bottle. He has a bandage on his forehead in that scene... in the cut where she bottles him, he grabs his forehead.

Yes, after inputing the "co2" password it really looks like unrelated, but I still think that's not the case.

The main thing, aside from the fact that this website needs a password to access, is that we know it was one of the names of 10 cloverfield lane before, so why does it show a completely diferent film?

There are some more weird things relating to it:

1- Here's what a redditor found searching twitter: "Look at the first person following the @10cloverfieldln account. Someone named Matt, and from there Matt is following an account with the username... @thecellarmovie and who's following this cellar account? Well this guy, @Nzmovieguy and in his bio this nz movie guy is also named Matt.... AND HE ALSO HAS "A Digital Marketer for Paramount Pictures." IN HIS BIO!!!"

2- The screenplay link is still pasword protected, I havent found the password for that

3- I have tried calling the phone on the site, rung a lot but went to voice mail, nothing weird, but why wouldn't they pick up?
