Charles Girard

Weird... Charles Girard is also the name of a French biologist:

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charles_Frederic_Girard

His name isn't on the Eiffel Tower though Confused

Swamp Pop Q's

I sent Swamp Pop two emails yesterday.

1st one was asking whether or not there 15 year shelter supply would return?

And the 2nd one was asking if Swamp Pop helped calm down or even heal extreme stomach aches/cramps?

Hopefully I hear back from them.

Huh? The Memory Lane puzzle? I'm looking at the website right now and it says "by Lori Schory" and it's under the catagory Artist: Lori Schory and I clicked on the "shop by artist" tab and went through Lori's artist page to get there. Her signature can also be found on the phonograph in the lower righthand corner.

I also found Lori's website. She is a sign painter, but it seems like at some point she also started doing paintings and photo collages for licensing to puzzle companies. Examples of both (though neither Cat Fish or Memory Lane, interestingly, but consistent with their surreal style) can be found in her portfolio website - which can be found easily but I'm hesitant to post as it contains her phone number.

EDIT: I'm gonna add in that puzzle art is almost always licensed art, and you can find many Artists across many brands, and in fact the SAME art on different puzzles by different brands - this along with different puzzle brands sometimes being manufactured by the same factory. So Lori has art on puzzles on not just White Mountain puzzles, but many other brands too. But I can't find Memory Lane or Cat Fish anywhere but on WMP's site/their puzzles. Cat Fish is also out of print.

EDIT 2: The puzzle "Memory Lane" is relatively new, but not brand new - it was however realeased in Nov. 2014 - the same month the movie began to shoot.

Hello, everyone! I'm new to this forum, but I've lurked a lot in the past. I followed along with the original Cloverfield ARG, and I'm so excited that we're finally getting a new Cloverfield story!

I'm hoping that I can help even a little bit on this one, so I can't wait to see what unfolds.

Now onto the meat of my post: I know it's probably a long shot, but considering that John Goodman's character is supposedly a prepper and his concept in the movie is to stay hidden and safe, do you think there might be any black light messages written on those puzzle pieces?

My apologies. I looked at a lot of puzzles on various websites yesterday, and I didn't save the link. It might have been "Game Pieces" from an earlier discussion, instead. I'll try to recreate what I was seeing and report back. It was interesting at the time. Sorry again for the confusion.

Swamp Pop Puzzle pieces have arrived

My mixed case of Swamp Pop has just arrived and included 3 puzzle pieces. Two were in the Satsuma Fiz and one in the Filé Roor Beer. I will post pictures shortly .

Here they are:

Ah the joys of Internet inflection. I'm usually on the other end of that.... No harm, sorry I jumped on you.

It's ok! If these puzzles are part of the ARG they are DEFINTIELY trolling us. There's so many of them to begin with and each individual one is incredibly dense with hundreds of other tiny images - it's very overwhelming and time consuming to go through them. Which is why I find it funny there is LITERALLY A TROLL DOLL in the Memory Lane collage. Looking at us. Judging us. Laughing at us.

But yeah, most of the collage puzzles on WMP seem to be by Charlie Girrard. His style is very different than Lori's. It's not nearly so surreal, it's consistant and pretty evenly patterned. He also uses similar colours and motifs - mostly bright and warm vintage and retro stuff. The stuff that really reminds me of Bad Robot's office, essentially.

An interesting thing, and where it starts to get extra confusing, is even though Memory Lane is definitely Lori's work (her signature is on it) - it seems like she has used some of the same items, references and even the exact same images as in some of Charlie's collages. Maybe there's an old timey stock photography bank they're both pulling from? Or an IRL antique shop?

Hazmat barrel

As a few have mentioned here the three actors standing around a "hazmat barrel" however after reading the entire thread no one has really elaborated on this barrel's true identity. Some have said liquid nitrogen that may contain one of the parasites. I researched the hazmat warning sign sticker and I believe it is a Oxidizer warning label.
Now I'm no "chemist" but why would JG have a 55 gallon barrel of an oxidizing agent in a fallout shelter? Oxidizers are usually quite flammable....not the best thing to have in a underground locked down shelter.
Would a rubber glove protect you from liquid nitrogen? I don't think so. It's not liquid nitrogen. The barrel seems plastic. Any ideas.

Thanks for moving!

Im pretty sure the puzzle collage is not IG... Im sure you could pick any movie and find tons of stuff in one of their puzzle that relates to the movie. Each puzzle has hundreds of small things in it lol

Yes that's not untrue, but what are the odds that puzzle would be by the same artist and brand as the puzzle that's actually clearly identified in the Trailer? That's a much larger coincidence.

I'm not saying it's a sure thing, it's just curious. And anything curious in an arg is worth investigating.

Especially since this arg seems to be using pre-existing products & websites instead of made up fake ones. Much like they turned a pre-existing script into a Cloverfield movie.

I sent off an email using their contact page under "some other thing"{paraphrase, dumb me forgot to copy it before hitting send}:

Quote:
I have two questions. I was interested in your Long-Term Shelter Supply which I understand is out of stock due to supply issues on this coast. I was wondering if I could be made aware when it is available again. I see you bottle in Scranton.
My REAL question, however is: I see you pride yourselves on all natural ingredients. I was wondering is you happen to use this new thing I've heard of called "Seabed's Nectar" which is supposed to be all natural and AMAZING!

The puzzles are fun, but nothing more than a distraction at this point.
There is zero verifiable evidence to suggest any of this is IG. Perhaps that'll change, but it hasn't yet.

Well yeah. None of this is looking very solid at this point. I'm still pretty suspicious of Swamp Pop. It's a few pieces of an existing, commonly available 4 dollar puzzle that show a generic picture of something we already knew was of importance. And it doesn't seem like it's anything more than that yet. It's entirely possible they're stringing people along.

Or not? We don't know. Nothings IG or OG until theres a G in the firstplace. Which is why we investigate things that come up.
