My theory keeps changing every hour because there's many different ideas being thrown at us, and many of them sometimes conflict with each other as well.

I think a good theory is the one posted a few posts before this one about how the events of this movie happen paralleled to that of Cloverfield. And if the theory stating those two were in a car accident and Goodman saved them has some truth, then here's how it makes sense. The initial reaction of the Cloverfield attacks caused evacuation of the city and people running frantic, most of them not having any idea of what was going on, no clue of any monster. People seemed to just know something bad was happening. So, the two younger people in the trailer start driving to get out of the area. Maybe it's NYC or maybe it's another area anywhere else being evacuated due to a similar event occurring similtaneously. Maybe there's another Clover/MGP that woke up along with the original one. Maybe there's multiples.

Anyway, as they're driving it's a reckless environment as everybody is desperate to evacuate and that's what causes the crash. Goodman brings them down to this safe zone cellar for reasons I don't want to overly speculate about because there's many possibilities why. While they are down there the bombings occur, which would explain the shaking in the trailer. Then when she escapes she sees the city completely in shambles from the bombings. This would explain her shocked and devastated reaction when looking outside, because it looks completely different than when she was previously outside.

Again, obviously just a speculative theory based on other nonfactual theories and claims I've seen. But this potentially could make sense.


That makes a ton of sense. I think I would adopt your addition and see how it evolves.

So you think the injuries were first and then she's later living there and adapting? Or Is she trying to escape after she's pretended to adjust?

I would like her/them to try to leave and get out. To see the outside. I hope it's not *she makes it to the door and goes back and they work out their interpersonal drama trapped in a shelter = Cloverfield sequel*

 		cool deal. I also listened to the trailer audio backwards. Was hoping for some "help us...its still alive" awesomeness like last time but to no avail no hidden audio to be found. The rumbling at the end of the clip is particularly interesting. Sounds like a bomb went off far away and they were getting the shockwave of it.

 		It is a house. looks to me like a window and door, with a light on. Don't ask me how/why, maybe it means something, maybe it's an error. And you can spec about it all you want, but i'm just saying.... Soon in even a little, and it is a house. Maybe it's like a water heater and an oil tank. Maybe it's a silo. But that yellow glow looks like "lights on inside here" to me.

True. I kind of saw the roof shape and my impression was a military tent but then I saw the snowmen shapes and it ruined it for me Very Happy I think you're right - it would logically be in or near a house, barn, something that she can see is a wasteland or whatever's going on out there.

On one of the theory threads on Reddit someone linked to an Imgur(?) page with one pic from the trailer I totally didn't even notice: they're standing around a big metal drum. Immediate thought is one of the parasites is in there, JG kept it for whatever reason.

On Reddit someone posted this url had in image up of a bomb shelter.

I pulled up the whois and screen capped it in case they try to hijack it:

But it's a hoax/fake. I am not the only one who checked it earlier this morning and it wasn't an active domain at all. In the last couple of hours someone bought the domain and tried to pawn it off as connected. Then it redirects to some other real estate domain or whatever it was.

So if we need to blacklist hoax domains, add these:

OOOH!! Good point! If so, we can consider that JJ's defacto nod this is the Cloverfield we were looking for ;-p Or something.

The 1-18 site's been down for years. Some foreign placeholder but all the pics and original stuff is gone. Slusho and Tagruato have not been updated so far.

 		Hi guys new here wish i was here for when Cloverfield was coming out but never knew about it until a few years after the film came out. I did happen to see videos on youtube (where i first saw anything about it) trying to figure out what the creature looked like etc, and didnt come across vids of the actual creature weirdly enough, so i had my own little wonders i guess. Anyway the new film im still skeptic about it feels like its just those three in the bunker and thats it i dont see the Cloverfield link. I just hope when shes shocked as she gets to the door that isnt the end and we see more.

 		Someone on Youtube commented a very good point: "Cloverfield dates itself by going into that phone shop so he could get a new battery for his phone. It has very clearly dated the film and in this one she's seemingly looking for signal on what looked like an iPhone 5 which is a year or two old at best. That at the very least sets this film in 2014 and the first Cloverfield with their flip phones and basic camera phones was not set in 2014." Wonder how long its been since the bombs dropped..

Why im skeptic about it, what made her crash then? if the outside was really that bad from when Clover first came around as we know then surely she would of known shit was going down anyway? how can she not know about it? she would of been a survivor of the whole Clover ideal herself.
