Carina and the Sparks Club

Carina attended her first meeting of the Sparks Club yesterday. Here's her blog entry about it:

https://librarymusingsblog.wordpress.com/2016/03/23/the-spark-club/

A couple interesting things I noticed:

1) The club meeting flyer, particularly the design on it
2) Meeting attendee "Ian" seems to be the Keeper of the Three of Wands

EDITED to add: A reverse google image search shows that the symbol on the flyer is called a "transmutation circle," also referred to as an "alchemy array." See link for further explanation:

I was thinking Gaia or Terra and tried a few ciphers, but haven't found anything yet.

To make up for my poor performance last night lol

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Using a caesar with shift 23

you get

hieroglyph khmi

This apparently meant "black land", a reference to the dark fertile soil around the banks of the Nile river.

Also the word chemist and alchemist comes from the arabic al-khmia which is derived from this hieroglyph.

and randomly as im pretty sure the Chrysopeoeia came up earlier in the story):

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cleopatra_the_Alchemist

Also i had an update from winter:

Quote:
Ah, black earth. Makes me think of the Greek word chēmía, which not only means black earth, it also means black magic. Isn't that interesting?

Remember that some things you find in life are puzzle pieces, others are simply like beautiful stones or shells that you can put on your window sill and admire for the way they tell you story about the sea.

Edit** Booba i noticed you tweeted PP with a possible solve on the Blake.html how did you get that answer? Doesnt seem to lead to a new .html

Been away too did not see that Winter Sylvana has returned after crises too many. Now what about a tower, a magician and a common bond beginning with an L. I must be taking this too literal, but I am rusty.

Yeah, really nice solves you guys!

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Googling "no exit" leads to a wiki page of a play with the same name and from there you can find " The original title is the French equivalent of the legal term in camera" which is also an alternate name for the play.

Aha Yes, THX Booba & Elethamei. Wasn't around yesterday to see PP's tweet (III-O E-II-I-II) providing the 6 letters of No Exit, also showm on the sign

Your clarification just serves to HIGHLIGHT HP's beaut mind & thought process. **And, Booba, ditto on the long-time-no-type** Smile

Here, here!

And a great puzzle construct!
Yeppers, it was all there for the seeing from day one, which goes to prove that old adage:

"If you lay the sticks on their side, then Booba can see neither the trees or the forest."

Great solve peeps!!!

A few questions:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):

1. Did the 24 images of sticks have any bearing on the puzzle?

2. The placement of the 3 / 2 / 2 sticks within the context of O I and E.
Was this just an anagram or was their logic behind their placements.

Booba Wrote

I get that alternating
— — —
— —
— —
with the vowels in order O E I:

III-O E-II-I-II gives NO EXIT but then what ?

But it isn't alternating, that would be III O II E II I (NO XEIT) or O III E II I II (ON EXIT)

3. The tweeted image of an alphabet with no vowels (including a and u missing and not just O /I /E).
What was its meaning / use?

I used the following in my application:

Quote:
Hopefully I can continue to amuse you!

Anagrams of Apply Yourself:

Play profusely

Flay purposely

Lousy flypaper

Playful osprey
