My hope is, this could be the code, which would be revealed at the game finale and which would lead us to kinda Chat Dad+Megan. Perhaps as inactive viewers.

Hi all, just catching up with this. I wouldn't be surprised if the answer to the birthday question was in the movie itself to give us something to close out the ARG after the movie.

Welcome back Smile

And yes, this would be definitely cool. Already because it would mean, the whole backstory is not just a marketing for the movie, but a part of a transmedial experience around Cloverfield

Prediction:

FaPT /lifepreservinginformation/ will update with a message that says something like:
"They are watching and interfering with communication over the cell phone. This is the only secure communication we have left. Keep checking this site, I will leave further instructions here."

"DID YOU FIND THE PHONE I LEFT FOR YOU? YOU HAVEN'T CALLED. OR MAYBE YOU HAVE, AND THE'VE ALREADY BEGUN CUTTING THE NETWORKS. THAT COULD BE THE CAUSE OF THE RECENT CELL PHONE PROBLEMS. RIGHT BEFORE AN ATTACK, THEY ALWAYS TRY TO DISRUPT COMMUNICATIONS. BUT I'LL KEEP TRYING."

I was close. Razz

Jukebox song

"When you get the phone, remember the song on the jukebox you loved"

This is starting to gnaw at me. Jukebox songs are chosen by a numerical code. Usually 4 numbers. Numbers are always good for ARGs.

"I think we're alone now" is played pretty predominantly throughout some of the trailers. Is there any time that the song in the trailer shows up on the jukebox and the number is visible?

Perhaps this leads to a code in the phone or at least something to text to Howard. I will have to watch the trailers again, I guess, to flesh this out....can't until tonight unless someone else wants to take up the task.

UPDATE:

Well that did not take as long as I thought it would. The very first part of the first trailer Howard punches in the code for the song. It is 4813 (although the trailer only shows him punching three numbers '483').

Has our friend with the phone tried texting this number to Howard or possibly using it as a code?

4813 was the code to the voicemail on Megan's phone. Wink

Basically, the phone hasn't amounted to anything that could be considered a lead. It had a voicemail from Howard on it was all.

Phone Call

My brother told me that he read that Howard tried to call the phone tonight. I guess the owner didn't hear it and missed the call, no voicemail. Bummer, would have been cool to know what he was going to say to Megan.

Yep, all of this was covered in the FaPT Thread as it all coincided with the other updates. Always good to read everything you missed since last posting.

Sorry, just saw those posts in the other thread. Didn't think to read everything first.... will have to remember that.

Seems like Dad is trying to call Megan, and has now passive aggresively texted that her Voicemail box is full, lol.

Heh, I saw that pop up at /r/ too. I honestly thought helveticatt was keeping the VM pretty clear.

Yeah, it's weird, I wonder if after all that they are now having technical difficulties? But it also is soooooo a dad thing to say.

In light of this development, I've created the 'SAS System' for us...'Stambler Anxiety Stages'.

'Stambler Anxiety Stage' Rating System:

Stage #1: Concerned look, accompanied by long, uncomfortable silences

Stage #2: Passive-aggressive commentary

Stage #3: Anger-control attempts (i.e., hand-flexing, teeth clenching)

Stage #4: Openly angry yelling and/or physical confrontation

Stage #5: Best get to the bunker...and close the door behind you.

Wink

How can the box be full with only one message saved? Sucks that chickie had to delete the original VM from Howard.

Helveticatt got a text message from Howard, and Howards voice mail has also been changed.
