I have two theories for where the story might be going.
1. It's simply going to be showing the different things that happen to Stan.
2. The thing above but Stan slowly gets slender sickness again ('cause of the coughing yah know)

Also a third less likely one
3. This kid is actually gonna get haunted after this and it's Stan's fault or something

Well, judging by the sickness, the stress that Stan seems to be getting from the investigations, and the motion poster that Evan posted, I'm guessing Stan will go under some intense shit.

My prediction is that Stan will help someone, but then that person screws him over or something. It goes with the "people are monsters" theme.

I already love how past stuff is used to kind of inform present stuff, even though we don't really need the past stuff.

Like Stan knew that the guy didn't know his real name, so he was lying when he said the Rake said it... which means that the Rake isn't after Stan either? He was just part of this "mission"?

Okay, I'd hate to be "That Guy," but I feel the need to ask someone: Is this like a complete reboot, or is it a continuation of the old series, or what's going on?

Because I didn't even get through the original and I'm not sure where to go from here.

Sequel in the sense that it takes place after the original series

Reboot in the sense that you don't actually need to watch the original series, and that it retcons/erases a bunch of stuff

So it's a soft reboot

Yeah, I'm really a fan of soft reboots. They're interestingly enough becoming pretty popular now & I get why.
