Ughh....math....lol....

I am ever so hopeful that this one will have as little to do with actually computing something mathematical as the graph page did.

So we've got:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
A statue of Aphrodite of Knidos
......and her name with (what look like) some measurements. But of what?

I am just happy that somehow, Omnie's mom got dragged into the middle of ARG-insanity.

I'm sorry to say I'm stumped. And the worst part is that it's one of those puzzles that "feels" simple (if that makes sense....like the answer is staring me in the face).

I've tried a lot of different possibilities. I think maybe the the first number may be the word (3 words), but then we don't have the "Don't forget to seperate them" clue. So maybe it's only one word.

I've been trying to see if some things may go with the answer to the last page....

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
i.e. _TH >>> E_POINT >>> TSOI >>> THE POINT>>> SO >>> I>>>
Rather than using TSOI because I'm not sure how that sentence would continue using TSOI?

I've tried using the number of the letter in the name of the letter in order, like ALPHA has 1.2 and 1.1 .... so LA.

But came up with latleatph (which I did try anagramming to no real use because what kind of word would come after TSOI?) And there are far too many combos of smaller words if there are more than one word in the answer.

I tried a few other silly things too.....but am getting nowhere fast, so if anyone has solved this can I have a wee hint? Very Happy

I'm kinda jumping in the middle of this (although I've read all of the great solves above, nice job!) and haven't come up with anything yet, except that I thought I'd mention that the source has this:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Remember the little robots!

I have no clue what to do with it though Confused

And also, I found this:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Victor Tsoi was apparently a famous Russian poet and musician: http://members.tripod.com/~josephb/etsoi.htm

But then you would end up with an extra "T" between "POINT" and "SO"? Though it's good logic - especially if the lettler between the "T" in "POINT" was "A" or something... but it's not

All right, there is a hint now

Hmm, that hint, combined with the "Remember the little robots!" hint, and a mild hint from yanka earlier on, seems to be pointing to a solution that has something to do with the (number of) line segments in the letters of Aphrodite... dunno what yet though... the little numbers printed on the letters are really bugging me Wink

Disregarding the numbers for a moment, looking at the letters and counting their segments, you get
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
32213123

The numbers aren't consistent in any way i have discovered yet, mostly because of the 1.4 on the symbol for delta...

Ok...

I'm really not sure what the "remember the tiny robots" was supposed to hint at, but the added lines finally gave it to me:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Use the pieces of the letters, as cut by the added lines, to construct new letters..

Do it, it's easy from there...

For full disclosure:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):

you take \ and / from the A
and \ and / from delta
You get \/\/

You take whatever it is you are supposed to take from the H to make an A
(i got it by guessing it should be A)

And take two half circles from phi to make an S

put it together...

answer
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
was

On to the next, i'm not making alot of progress:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
i identified two images:
43 35 N 39 43 E : Sochi in russia , is that a pyramid, a highway, or what?
Boris and Andrei Strugatsky's A Million Years Before the End of the World.

Is that a kanji char in the top middle?
Is ACCA really ABBA ? I couldn't find a pic resembling what we see...

Why do I always come back after the hints have been added....lol
Anyway God Bless Justin........tyvm

The symbol is:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
mu
http://www.harapan.co.jp/english/japan/hiragana.htm
or so it says......

Who's the first dude? Zeus/Jupiter? If it started with an "A" (Apollo?), coupled with "MU" and the "S" from Sochi........we could conceievably have "TSOI WAS AMUSED.........

Nice solves! The next seems to be the ruins of an old temple?

There are no hints in the source, the name of the pic is ddt_hi_than_flex.gif and, curiously, it has an alt text, "not gif".

hmmmm........did someone say FLEX?........lol

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/sci/tech/811314.stm

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
It's DELPHI (Apollo's temple)......so do we use 1/2 of that?

I actually tried to use the "ddt_hi_than_flex" to find something at the Delphi forums...to no avail.

Hmm... the filename doesn't make sense to me at all, I also tried other extensions for it because of the "not gif" alt text, but nothing came up. In relation to Delphi all I can think of was the oracle of Delphi.. I tried using half (1/2) of all these words, so del, apo or ora, but nothing...

Yeah I did the same, front and back halves....

The file name is indeed strange. The first thing one thinks of is the chemical pesticide DDT....but it probably stands for something else, although none of the words seem to have any commonality so it could very well be the chemical.....the "not gif" is bugging me.

I'm thinking the "not gif" refers to the fact that whatever we have to do, we use the name of the image file without the extension to do the figuring.

Example:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
ddt_hi_than_flex = 4420_89_208119_612524

But we wouldn't have to also add the 796/gif part to figure it out (if that were indeed a possible solution.....which I'm sure it's not)

Of course it wouldn't be the first (or last) time I was wrong. Very Happy

--------------------------
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Not sure where I ended up but I thought maybe we were reading too much into it.

Half of Delphi is Phi which is "F" in the Greek Alphabet

But when I tried F got directed to I

http://www.tranzed.net/play/i.htm

..which is an "oops haven't finished this puzzle yet", so I think I may have inadvertantly skipped sumpin.

EDIT - actually even "IF" redirects there....
