Change of tone from Alecia.........

Since I received that e-mail from Alecia yesterday, things have changed a bit Smile. Someone on my other post recommended that I call her bluff- that is what I done. Seems that was some sort of loyalty test.

Although I have other details involving this that I would not like to share here- incase of a repeat. If any, genuine player would like to know, drop me a P.M and I would be more than happy to tell you. With my explination, you will find it evident as to why I did not post it here.

Anyway, I got back in touch with Alecia and she says more work will follow for me soon. Interesting to note though, when I asked her about Marcus, she said...

I reallllyyyy dont know if I should put it here, I have strong feelings that what happened last time will repeat if I was to do so.

Drop me a P.M, anyone, and I'll tell you what she had to say about Marcus, as well as the finer details of this "loyalty test".

thanks,

Jonathan Cool

Hmm, one would say that the PMs are back-pedaling a bit, tho I don't know the full details...

So this is what we've been reduced to?

That bites and doesn't bode well for the single most important reason I play.........

I agree this sucks! I think I'll just try and keep up with posts, but will not actively play for awhile. Maybe next month when the official game launches, I'll come back and see how things are going.

Edit *Jonathan, my decision to not play for now is not entirely because of your above post. I'm just tired of all the accusations and the arguements(by many)about people spying and giving out information. It takes the fun out of the game. When it's not enjoyable anymore, it's time to quit. Jonathan, I hate to say this, but they have a point. I think you should go ahead and share what you got. You don't have to name names; I think whoever it is already knows who they are.

And any other spies out there, keep a lid on it. I'm gonna post something in General/Updates soon which should help us all out, for spies, spyees, and a couple of hints for the PMs too.

EDIT: Said post can be found here.

I must interject that I wasn't referring to Jonathan in particular, but more the climate of late, and the negative results on the game/comaraderie from said climate.

And it feels like we've been discussing some variation of the same issue forever.

(Not that I have an answer....apart from common sense)

That's what I was getting at Caterpillar, you said it perfectly. Thank you.

Heck, even if you don't suspect them, go ahead and report them anyway!

Ah... McCarthism at its best. Will we be setting up a black list also?

I can't help it if I write heartfelt posts....

Now I'm lost again. Where are we?

I was impressed by our ability to openly and politely discuss a core issue without a trace of rancour or malice. Which ended with a poll for God's sake. And a helpful list of suggestions of how to act. Which I find to be a testament to the strength of the bonds of this community.

I am ashamed to admit that I didn't consider the "good-faith blunder" option at all, and I am the person who committed the biggest one ever. But, Bill very kindly pointed that out as a possibility without making me feel like a fool. That is the stuff that makes this place work so well.

Maybe I should point out that I used the word "spies" because Alecia is a spy. I now see that "agent" is a less inflammatory choice and would have been preferable.

Last night in chat a player from Majestic (who is new to aware) mentioned that towards the end of that game people actually did stuff like posting flaming rude messages on personal websites. And other destructive things like that. Which is a way some people behave when dealing with conflict.

I can't imagine that ever happening here.

I think I am going to have to drop into "standby-mode" as well. If large chunks of the game are going to be played through character interaction and player-to-player whispers, secrets, gossip, and private messages, with very little of it being posted in a community forum...well, you have at that point lost most of the community aspect. Seeing as the whole community angle is one of the awesome things that drew me to this genre, the whole thing leaves a bit of a sour feeling.

Like enaxor, there have been a number of reasons building up to this decision, but the culmination of it all has been this recent backstabbing spy debacle. I will continue to check up on the message boards from time to time, but will probably refrain from actively participating until the signal-to-meta ratio has been seriously squelched.
