Seperating OE, Ideltech and Restorers?

Tablesaw has posted some wonderful thoughts in this thread. Smile

It seems that we're still adapting to AWARE as a competition type ARG. Would it make things easier if we split up the AWARE section here into three sub-sections: Restorers, Ideltech and OE? That way those that don't want to see the other sides info can easily avoid it? Or does that sound completely crazy?

I like the competition side of things. Maybe a forum for each group in the AWARE category would be nice (including puzzles and updates all in one etc)

I think this is a great idea. It would also help keep info sorted.

I assume the each area would remain open to all members?

It might help to keep things better organized.
But in UF all areas are open to anyone. If you don't want to be spoiled then you don't have to go there. But for those who are lurkers/rubberneckers and want to see what each individual group has going on, they are available.

I plea to posters to check to see if there is already a thread started about your topic before starting a new one.
Put a date on first Subject in a thread (i.e. 6/15 EMAIL from Alecia, or 6/14 PUZZLE from Thad, etc).
Keep on using those wonderful headers: EMAIL, PHONE CALL, SPEC, PUZZLE, SOLVE, etc.

Thanks.

Well it seems if we have 3 separate forums (obviously open to everyone though) then it'll give people the choice and should please most people.

So admins make the final choice I guess Smile

I think this is a good idea, but, for the matter, wouldn't we need three separate WIKI guides, too? If Ideltech employees don't want to know The Restorers business, that's ok, but if they check the guide (in case they are absent from the scene for a few days) and see Restorers info, they are going to be totally bummed.

In other words, I think if we go with that idea, three forums, three wiki guides. It makes sense (to me Smile )

I don't know that three wikis will be absolutely necessary, but I think that some sort of segmentation and page marking on the guide will eventually be needed. Presumably, the guide would have (1) general pages with information known by everyone (Marcus Thesburg is the blah blah blah, is e-mail is blah, his weblog is at blah...), (2) sectioned pages with information that relates to one side ("R: On July 5, Thad witnessed Alecia killing Marcus." "OE: On July 5, Alecia killed Marcus and took over his identity, fooling Ideltech employees." "IT: On July 5, Marcus was safe and sound and communicating with employees again.") and (3) "big picture" pages that combine all sides into one (like the pregame chronology). As long as it's clear which pages are which, general wiki theory should keep things going. Everyone updates and corrects general pages, teams update their own pages, and a few intrepid individuals keep track of all of it for the Big Picture.

Yeah, just three different Chronologies, Summaries and such would work, I guess. Then we would have the same as in the forum: different sections where everyone can enter if they want, or ignore them if they prefer so Smile

I read this discussion about the guide with trepidation. I understand Tablesaw's point but, unless things change I think we have to accept that it will continue to be biased and that the OE information won't be there.

I strongly feel that the purpose of the guide is for the community so dividing it only makes sense if it is easier to use that way. I do understand that people want to play seperately on teams and want to keep their team's information secret. These people can stay on IU and created their own team guide if they wish . As a resource for new people, returning people, anyone really, the narrative guide is the only way to catch up without scrolling through these forums-- an approach that can be confusing. And I think it will prove important as the game progresses.

(but of course I am biased)

It would actually probably be clearer if the guide had separate pages for each group's events anyhow!

I think if it's gonna be split up it needs to be now before it gets too hard to separate.
