Who Killed the Hermit?

If you're tired of Insane Steve's insanity, the Renegades of Funk have started a game - figure out which member of their clan killed the hermit (looks like a logic/process of elimination game but requires running around checking profiles and such to find information).

This is somewhat of a "trivia" like riddle. If you are making a trivia riddle, you'll probably want to use things you know a lot about, right? Well...

So I'm thinking it must be about the Kingdom of Loathing itself. Perhaps the island is the Mysterious Island of Mystery? And therefore perhaps the book is the abridged dictionary? And perhaps that thing that isn't a chocolate-chip cookie is a carob-chunk cookie?

All of which leads me absolutely nowhere. Mad

Anybody made any progress on Insane Steve's puzzle? I'm still stuck on #4. Here are my current lines of thinking, spoilered for no particular reason, since I am totally stumped right now:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
- I don't know if the fact that the title of the page is "Excel Saga" is just a reference to it being an Excel spreadsheet, or if it might have something to do with the anime called Excel Saga as well.
-I'm pretty sure the letters are appreviations for titles. The placement of the T's and O's would suggest "the" and "of". Titles for what, I have no clue. At first I thought they might be locations in the game, but I can't seem to match them up with any. The clue says you need to research outside information, so I am thinking they could be movie, book, or chapter titles.
-The bottom clue where he mentions wanting to use trivia from something you know a lot about makes me think the answer is in the game somewhere.
-The underlying text, "I will own you", makes me think that the cookie(?) and the green book are items, and the island is the place where you find them. There is only one island in the game that I know of, and trying all the abbreviations related to it has not yielded any results.

If you want to join Bearded clan, please post here too, so we know the applicant is from unfiction. Helps keep out the riff raff, y'know. Smile

Ditto.

A "mentally-unstable place of retreat" must be an insane asylum, which means l33t1fy is probably referring to Insane Steve's avatar:

Which doesn't help me at all. Bang Head

You are correct: they are titles. They are not, however, the titles of movies, books, or chapters.

That's what I thought, too. It's not. It has nothing to do with the Kingdom of Loathing. It does have to do with a game of some sort, of which Insane Steve -- who recently turned 18 -- is apparently a huge fan. And his avatar will help identify the game in question.

Or you can just look here:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Yoshi's Island
