"All the birds have started their nests

What are we waiting for now?"

Or

Have all birds started their nests
except me and you
so what are we waiting for?

Funny, this bit of text was in the news a few weeks ago, because they found it to be the first written sentence in Dutch ever... there was a lot of fuss about it's translation and that it was rather offensive from some point of view Smile

Good stuff. The source appears to be:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
'Dance, dance, dance', a novel by Haruki Murakami
[http://yanko.lib.ru/books/lit/engl/murakami-dance-engl.htm]

The book is talking about the run-down Dolphin hotel: 'A far cry from its name (to me, the 'Dolphin' sobriquet suggested a pristine white-sugar candy of a resort hotel on the Aegean Sea), if not for the sign hung out front, you'd never have known the building was a hotel. Even with the sign and the brass plaque at the entrance, it scarcely looked'

I can see quite a few remaining things to consider. Haven't found any answers though, so here's some spec:

Why suger, not sugar? Just a typo? Googling 'suger' tells me that an abbot suger , who was a 12th century cleric who, among other things, ordered the construction of the Parisian church of St. Denis. But I can't really see any reason to bring him up.

Perhaps 'dolphin' is significant somewhere. Again, can't think of anything plausible, although one of the main aristocratic families in 12th century frane, that of Vienne, had a dolphin as a symbol (the origin of the later royal title 'dauphin']. But I can't see any connection between that and Sugar, so probably irrelevant.

Or the significance could be in reference to the source itself - the author, the title, the page/line reference (bottom of p. 4, judging from the OCR'd copy I linked to above]

Any idea why the clue was laid out the way it was? I can't think of anything, but am curious.

So are these numbers part of what's already been solved at Time Flows?

Not sure if it's relevant, but that translates to "The boy will die alone"...

What is St. John's wort?
St. John's wort (Hypericum perforatum in Latin) is a long-living plant with yellow flowers. It contains many chemical compounds. Some are believed to be the active ingredients that produce the herb's effects, including the compounds hypericin and hyperforin.

How these compounds actually work in the body is not yet known, but several theories have been suggested. Preliminary studies suggest that St. John's wort might work by preventing nerve cells in the brain from reabsorbing the chemical messenger serotonin, or by reducing levels of a protein involved in the body's immune system functioning.

i was wondering if anyone could give me a little help. me and my two friends have been working on these pages for a while now, and we are stumped on this page. its the page with the title of " title bar: A moth flew in the room when i di4d" we figured that it had something to do with the book Dance Dance Dance or the Author but what we don't know. I was wondering if anyone could give us a little help.

I assume you mean http://www.thisisnotporn.com/DM/inthedarkness/SM.htm

To help others get up to speed, the username and password for the above page are:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):

Edith
Head

The book that Beef mentions is online at http://yanko.lib.ru/books/lit/engl/murakami-dance-engl.htm

The page contains links to two password-protected areas. The password clues are 'Master and Betrayer', and 'CuriosityKilledTheCat'. I don't understand the master and betrayer one, but from the gamefaqs thread mentioned earlier, curiosity killed the cat is indeed a reference to dance, dance, dance
For the username, consider:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):

what was the cat's name in Dance, Dance, Dance?

For the password, look at the source (or wiggle your mouse around the javascript) for a clue:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):

WHEN DID THIS HAPPEN?

More obviously:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):

when did the cat die in dance, dance, dance?

So, the username/password is
Spoiler (Rollover to View):

Kipper
May

There's plenty more to puzzle over on that page, but I haven't worked it out, and the Gamefaqs discussion is growing so quickly and aimlessly that I don't really want to follow it. Anyone else want to pick up from here?
