St. John's Wort

ThisIsNotPorn, who also posts on other sites that have threads about this web-game, talked about St. John's Wort. I went to the forum at Thisisnotporn.com and there is an FAQ there in which the site creator talks about a Japanese film review site. Well, guess what, St. John's Wort is a Japanese horror movie that you can find on IMDB (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0293478/). The story is about a girl who is a video game level designer or something that agrees to stay in an old house she inherited over night for level design ideas. Spooky things go from there...

Not sure what page, if any, this is a clue for. I liked the Ringu reference, btw, in the "Frolic in Brine, Goblins be Thine" names for the gifs on one of the early pages. Funny thing is, that particular translation for the Japanese poem in Ringu is only found on the British DVD release. Is the site creator a Brit, maybe?

We figured out some other stuff, passwords to the next few pages (Which seems to have a heavy lord of the flies reference)

We're working on it over at the www.ocremix.org forums, however, it is in unmoderated, which means that your going to get highly offended AND your going to need to sign up to view the topic.

If you really want, i can spoil it for you, but i'll let you know that your on the right track.

Hint: The Tree page, Dance Dance Dance is the right place to look, but the key is in Dantes Inferno.

The key for the Dorothy and Scarecrow gateway is:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):

Username: Yuki

Password: Gotanda

A team of four, including myself, managed to get this far, but once we reach the page with the windmills, we are stuck. There are more references to Sheepman (kiki), some gibberish that we can't decode, and hidden links to pages with pictures of a creepy, thunderbirds-esque fake head.

The headers of the pages with heads seem important:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
1.Piggy Piggy
2.We've Got Ventriloquists
3.Who Watches the Watchme...
4.We Are Connected
5.a fellow of infinite jest, of most excellent fancy

The last one's title caught my eye. I remembered that line from Hamlet. Hamlet was in a churchyard talking to Horatio, about Yorick, the kings jester, and he had his skull in his hand. Also, considering our puppetmaster's taste for obscurer references, it shouldn't go unnoticed that there is a heady comedy book called "Infinite Jest" by David Foster Wallace.

The lyrics of a Radiohead song, Kid A, corresponds to the one about Ventriloquists. They are "We've got heads on sticks, You've got ventriloquists."

This is everything we've got. Anyone who could make sense of the coded (if it is coded) stuff on the indmill and power-junction looking page would gain our respect and adoration forever.

Also, an explanation of how you figure it out, and how you did some of the earlier decoding (like the animated GIF, we never figured that out) would be extremely helpful.

Re: You Guys...

I am at the same place and noticed the same two things a couple days ago. Heres my opinions.

This is definitely an anargram, check this... http://www.wordsmith.org/anagram/anagram.cgi?anagram=unhssrvelette+

Alright, this is the most interesting thing. Look at it side ways. I believe its a bridge of some sort (possibly a suspension/walking bridge). Now refer back to the anagram link. The very first possibility says Eleventh Truss

Quote:
Truss: An assemblage of members of wood or metal, supported at two points, and arranged to transmit pressure vertically to those points, with the least possible strain across the length of any member. Architectural trusses when left visible, as in open timber roofs, often contain members not needed for construction, or are built with greater massiveness than is requisite, or are composed in unscientific ways in accordance with the exigencies of style.

So I believe this is possibly hint. More soon...

Continuing on what Demosthenes said: If you look at windmill page, there are very light recycling bin looking symbols. There are 5 of them. Each brings you upon this really freaky realistic robot (If you really must see, here's the original pic. The links at the bottom lead through the others.). Checking the source revealed a single name. David Hanson. Turns out he developed that very robot and works on similar ones also. Another crazy thing is that it also containes the same anagram as mentioned above.

Each of these hints at another work.

3. Who Watches the Watchme(n?)
4. This one is very broad. Not sure. Anyone know anything on this?
5. Hamlet/Shakespeare

Highway:

A couple thigns must be noted on here that haven't been.

Passing the mouse over the oncomming truck in the other lane will bring up "A life half lived" Notice how the truck looks very similar to the Colorado truck after the "Asia Awaits" page.

The second thing that must be noted is the small "73" in the bottom. Possibly the highway number? There is a proposed I-73 that is planned to head from Michigan to Murtl Beach, South Carolina.
i was wondering if anyone could give me a little help. me and my two friends have been working on these pages for a while now, and we are stumped on this page. its the page with the title of " title bar: A moth flew in the room when i died" we figured that it had something to do with the book Dance Dance Dance or the Author but what we don't know. I was wondering if anyone could give us a little help.

That line made me think of an Emily Dickinson poem, "I heard a fly buzz when I died," which sounds very similar... but somehow I doubt my literary connections will help here.

Many even quote it as:
Quote:
The abstract horror of "Kid A" anticipated this horror with its it proclamation, "We've got heads on sticks. We've got ventriloquists"

from a review at http://www.popmatters.com/music/features/010511-radiohead.html

Timeflows.html

Hi all,

I noticed that on page two you all kind of skipped away from the third page in to start talking about the page with the three lights on it, so I've continued on for myself (it's only my second puzzle like this so I'm quite keen to solve it.)

I'm sure that most of you have figured this out but I can't find it anywhere.

In the source code there is a tag: <!-- ImageReady Slices (hidden stuff.psd) --> Which makes me think the truck is photoshopped - even though i can't find the actual hidden stuff.psd file (I've tried underscoring, looking in different directories, everything but can't find it).

For those that don't want to know, I'll put this in a spoiler tag. In the spoiler tag is just a question, but it's a question that could annoy someone that was trying to work it all out themselves (hence the reason I haven't looked in any spoilers myself).

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Now, we know that the entire picture is made up of two images, but - upon googling the numbers on the truck:
5245 North Kertburt and 527 East Cider Niether, CO 80230
the first result returned is a map for the coordinates of 5245 and 527 in Colorado Springs, Denver. Upon zooming right in, it rests on a street called: "Academy Boulevard".
Now, cos I'm lazy, and can't be bothered swarming through the mountains of businesses listed in Google for "Academy boulevard", has anyone else figured this out?

Please feel free to trout me or delete this post if I have foolishly overlooked it's solution somewhere else in this thread.

Thanks!
This has me totally stumped now. Whats with this latest page? The only thing i notice is that the letters are in groups of 4, and a ROT turned up nothing. Any idea why D and BJ are highlighted?

Back ont he truck page, i found "All is dead and gone what was left by the woebegone" and "I know nothing of what i did" When i googled this last one, it turned up a poem. I took a quick look around the site and i dont think its anything to do with it.

The title of the windmil page is Robert Silvers. I googled this name and i found i found he had a book published, Photomosaics (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0805051708/002-5842566-8201620?v=glance). Seems like a deadend though

A photomosaic is a photo that is made up of other photos.

If you look closely on that page, you'll notice there are (kinda) watermarked pictures in that photo of the windmills, of circular arrows.

click in each on of them to get more (random) clue pages.

Even though I got past the truck page, I'd still like to know what it is that is at that address in Colorado Springs - I'm sure that's useful for some reason as the words and numbers are photoshopped onto the truck.

(*edit) Also, has anyone else tried googling "Kris Boruff"?
I found Two exact matches. One where he was the best man at a wedding : www.thetimesonline.com/articles/2004/05/ 30/community/community/ea23511152b6a22586256ea30078f37a.txt
and one on a Halflife website: http://www.planethalflife.com/features/walter/walter28.shtm where he writes a letter asking for "head crab" recipes...

anything in this? or is that all trout?
