Huh. I guess I should get my facts straight before jumping in with my brilliant observations. Or maybe I should stick to zooming in on cleavage.

On with the game then

Good thought! Although, in this case I think the groups of five letters and the trailing group with just one letter, seem to indicate that (to me, at least) the morse code is forward while the masking audio is backward.

we're all morons. especially me.

IEQQU DVZKK AXPWT VFPKO GJQYB E

AXPWT is enigma

so I'm putting away my rot and vigenere web pages, and cranking out the old enigma machine.

the rotors are obviously 324

quick primer.
we need the following.
the encrypted message (we've got that)
the rotor order: 324
ring settings, (3 letters)
Enigma rotor (3 letters)
plugboard connections - pairs of letters.

suggestions from danman include the following.
ARG is either the ring settings or rotor.
the plugboard could be anything.
ED (erebia disa)
MG - mastigoproctus giganteus
maybe
WOO wizard of Oz

I think OZ could be a plugboard setting.
more to come.

There's an enigma encoder/decoder at http://ozzzy.dyndns.org/eonline.html

[couldn't see one in the online tools section - perhaps somebody could add this, or if you all know a better decoder, point it out]

also, another letter pair for the plugboard would be LB for Lake B-

in #unfiction, we've decided that all the B Lakes could stand for Reflector B.

in enigma, you need a Reflector, either B or C.
All three web pages had good "reflections" on the lake.
My best guess (which doesn't seem to work)
plugboard: MG OZ ED
rotor setting ARG
ring setting: JRR
Reflector B
Rotor Order 324

I've got a clear decrypt on the enigma thing. The spoiler has the clues to decrypt the enigma. Of course you have to be able to decrypt any enigma, which isn't easy. Smile

Spoiler (Rollover to View):

It was posted elsewhere that the morse code was:
IEQQU DVZKK AXPWT VFPKO GJQYB E

You have to choose which roters to use -- that's a number, and there's only one numeric hint: 324

You have to choose plugboard settings; these come from the butterfly and the scorpion -- you need letter pairs; look at the latin names.

You need two more settings which are three letter combinations. One of those is ARG and the other comes from a title of one of Tolkien's works. These will be the ring settings and rotor settings (not necessairily in that order).

Take the first six letters: IEQQUD and encode them -- you should get LJSLJS in reply. Put LJS in for the setting and decode the rest, skipping the AXPWT word. (It's not part of the message.)

I'll post the result soon if noone else does.

Maybe DI SA instead of ED?

(which also doesn't seem to work)

Fellowship of the Ring, or setting FTR

This yields:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):

Woober rocks!

Next, use the only clue that hasnt been used,
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
The Wizard of Oz, in which they sing "Ding, dong the witch is dead."

Tell teddy:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):

OMGoodness I'm feeling a bit of a boob on this adventure.

Good Job!!!

The next one looks scary, and although I wasn't around for where.gif, I've heard enough to know the title of the pic seems scary too. At least to me.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
This looks like a golden rectangle, which means that 209-digit number must be a Fibonacci number. Yikes.
