from updated ideltech page about Marty

Quote:
Well, if you are reading this I am dead. I knew something was up when I saw that weird van outside the new office. But, I hid TobI in a server with a neat little time release program which put him in a spot where hopefully you Ideltech people will find him. I am not sure if Marcus or Jude made it so if the did get it to one of them. If they didn't make it, destroy it. TobI can get you killed like he did me.

I looked quickly to see if this was posted here somewhere--it's a bit dated but I didn't see it.

Looks to be akin to the Pearl Game:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
But not sure what "Add them together" means after one page tells you that you win. May be more pages...........

hey

Caterpillar - I think you did a great job, but it's my gut feeling that you left out a potentially important piece of information from the way you're viewing the moves - see if this helps anybody):

These are the sets of moves that yield the play sequence given. Based on the fact that the first pattern loses lines from 2 different rows, it only stands to reason that we make the first move, followed by the other player, and so forth.

First move is me (us), second move is the other player, and so forth:

My coordinates below are x, y where 'x' = # of pins taken, and 'y' = row #

Starting with:
Code:

| | | | |

| | |

| | | | | | | | |

| |

| | | | | |

Code:

#  ME        THEM
1  5, 3      3, 1
2  1, 2      2, 4
3  2, 5      2, 1
4  2, 2      1, 3
5  1, 5      3, 5
6  2, 3      1, 3

Does this help anybody visualize what's going on?

I tried comparing these to a grid of letters to no avail (as such):

Code:

ABCDE
FGHIJ
KLMNO
PQRST
UVWXY

But then this doesn't go with "now add them up". Bueller?

Progress...

The relevant pages (not in order) are:

http://www.ideltech.com/nim/2r3.html
http://www.ideltech.com/nim/1r5.html
http://www.ideltech.com/nim/2r5.html

"Adding" them gives:

1 of 2 options:

A) WR figured it out first and is hiding TOBI.
B) It's alive. Shocked (more likely)

Great. Now TOBI escaped from Marty's server. Any traces?

For historical value, when the puzzle first went live, it was rather broken. The directory http://www.ideltech.com/nim had not been protected and could be accessed directly. Furthermore, http://www.ideltech.com/nim/10r18.html didn't work. Instead, looking at the directory, another file, http://www.ideltech.com/nim/2r1.htm which presented a board that could not have existed in the same game as the others. Nevertheless, this file was necessary to add up the files to get http://www.ideltech.com/nim/12r19.html. These errors have obviously been corrected.
