Sorry carlitoxxi, but I fear that it may all be a little Anti-Italian.

Significant? Any others?

It was pointed out by someone else that the letters A and I are missing from the Gulliver's Travels in Lilliput text.

Yeah, it was jamesi that pointed that out. What he said was that it could be that the text was copied, as if the first letters were graphic files (BIG A and BIG I) that didn't survive the cut-n-paste.

Still, worth noting.

I wanted to double check the "big A, big I" theory.
However, the text "nd in about half an Hour the Boat was overset by a sudden Flurry from the North." which was the MAYDAY TEXT, appears in the middle of a sentence of Gulliver's Travels.

"We therefore trusted ourselves to the mercy of the waves, and in about half an hour the boat was overset by a sudden flurry from the north. "

So cutting and pasting from a website with a Big graphic A, and a big graphic I ( from "I lay down on the grass, which was very short and soft,") seems unlikely.

for what it's worth.

Seeing the recent developments in the Halo 2 trailer, might this have something to do with AI/The Beast? Confused

New thoughts from a new player...

There are a lot of references to sand. Sand is made of silicon. So are silicon chips.

Could "MY HEAD IS FULL OF SAND" and the memory of building a sandcastle with the line "I am made of sand" be references to the AI?

In fact, once you make the sand -> silicon chips -> computers connection, the whole sandcastle memory becomes more ominous.

Quote:
very young, making a castle out of sand. It's a good castle, I'm smart, I'm really smart and I'm good with my hands and the castle is beautiful but the tide is coming up, I'm making dikes and moats and outer walls, getting a little desperate here this castle means the world to me it's way better than my brother's

A newly-created AI, building a mechanical fortress (or battleship, or something fortified). And another AI (the "brother"), also building a fortress, but the Operator wants hers to be better than her brother's.

Then the tide comes in and sweeps both the castle *and* The Operator away (armies, trying to bring it down? Or maybe some sort of EM Burst designed to take out electronics?).

Was The Operator trying to take over the world? ("It means the world to me")

On an unrelated topic, could "the flea" be the unusual white text that you have to select just to be able to see?

Trout.

Speculation that the sand = silicon chips has already been made by ori and I in another thread.

Your take on it is interesting, though...

Sorry about that. I thought I read all the threads, but I don't remember reading the sand/silicon connection.

Still, given the ominous messages, are you sure the object here is to help repair the Operator (I'll call her that for convenience's sake, though she's probably also The Queen), or to *keep* it from being repaired?

I've read everything thread but not every post with absolute care, but I don't think I have seen anything about the spider that seems to be repairing it and the spiders that have destroyed her and the boy.
the spiders that climb over her wall and begin to delete things (they took away his face, she was losing her memory), could, I think, be hackers or entities created for hacking purposes, trying to overcome her security measures (castle walls, that were better than her brother's), and when her firewall is finally overrun she hides herself partially in innocent-looking data (I will hold my edges and remember, to have a small process restore those parts later on (I know how to remember things), write over her then-damaged main process (even through drugs and torture) to restore herself enough to carry on with her mission (I will not dissolve).

I don't know a lot about how computers work though, and I'm more into fantasy than sci-fi... it might just be the ramblings of a n00b.

Fraxxxi, that sounds very plausable. It seems to me that the AI is trying to restore itself by grabbing all kinds of data from anywhere it can, which happens to be ilovebees and the hotmail account so far.

Wow, haven't been here since Metacortex. Anywayz, just stumbled upon this over at GameMilitia, and it's too good to pass up. Smile

Not sure if this is helpful or not, but I took all of the MAYDAY text that I found from the different page sources and put them into (what i thought might be) a possible chronological order. If you think it might be helpful, you can check it out here:

It's backed up by this passage in the story:

Quote:
To mend the queen's cuts the Widow took her sharp knife and peeled skin from the bodies of her subjects, while the Queen's new eyes and ears she cut from those who had been her most trusted servants.

The Queen/Operator is being healed/repaired by the Widow/SPDR with pieces from others.

The Wiki page that compares the story to the various SPDR-generated commands is extremely enlightening on the matter (though it doesn't explicitly mention this aspect - rebuilding the Queen as a Frankenstein monster of body parts taken from others). Smile

On a slight tangent, there definitely seem to be several different "spiders". The "good" spider is the one reparing her, the "bad" spiders are the ones who destroyed her and "the boy" (I have no idea who that is yet - did I miss a discussion somewhere?) Both are probably Operator-speak for subprocedures.

I have thought of something

Now keep in mind that this is all pointing back at HALO2 and as someone mentioned the countdown from the first page may be an early release date so... what if these stories are the basis of halo2's plot? talk of celestial navigator, head full of sand leads me to think of a ship born AI 'the operator" especially with the obvious references to being female dont forget that the ships AI in halo was a girl (or the personality was female you know what i mean) but consider that a small ship has been stranded on a covenant world or the world of a new alien race under covenant domination (the spiders) hence good and bad spiders (good spiders are resisting the covenant) the boy could be the master chief who can download a ships AI into his battle armor. Sorry if this is less than a perfect analysis but its just an idea i had that seems to tie everything together.
