FYI, the fakeSPLATemail.woo thing shows up in PMs, too.
Not that there's anything wrong with that.

Added Wishi's lovely mod to SPLAT email addresses, like so:
fakeSPLAT email.woo
Thanks to Fił for the idea.
I think something like fake[at]email[dot]com would be easier on the eye. And it's even newbie friendly.. yes some people would actually send an e-mail to the SPLATTED address... replacing [at] with @ might be easier than replacing SPLATs..

The only reason that SPLAT was chosen is that I'm pretty sure that spammers know how people usually disguise email addresses and the bots can recognise the usual [at] and [dot]

Then let's invent our own Unfiction brand of splatting. (The bold SPLAT hurts my eyes, and you know how cranky I can get.) Suggestions:
mary{ta}company{tod}com
john{(a)}company{(.)}com
paul{rat}company{rot}com -- yes, the 'rat' is intentional, think Scooby-Doo.

There's the <acronym> tag which will do that in plain HTML (like <acronym title="HyperText Markup Language">HTML</acronym>), although that puts the onus on the post-composer.
