Durandal was the AI in the Apple game Marathon. Halo takes place in the same universe as the Marathon games.

All the games were really far-future, with no connection I remember to the 21st Century at all.

Pretty meaningless, really. It (the footage) is from the playable E3 multiplayer demo. (One team was named after the Covenant prophets; the Prophet of Truth, the prophet of Regret, and so on. The other Team was named after UNSC, or human, marines. It's actually Johnson, not John, and Johnson is a Sgt. in the UNSC military.) Good eye, though!

Heh... could the ancient AI construct be the Cloudmakers (and everyone else who jumped onboard with ARG since The Beast)? I mean, in terms of history with the Beast, we could be considered ancient, and cloudmakers was an AI construct. Maybe I'm jumping to conclusions, or maybe this is trout.

I maybe possibily be the first of many more Haloers to come to these forums but many of them are reading this thread. BTW, John (SPARTAN-117's ) is the name of the Masterchief in the Halo novels. Very important indeed. Wink

I am well aware of that. However, the E3 demo does not say John. It says Johnson (as you may remember from actually watching some of the clips.)

The site is screwed, and some weird text suddenly appeared:

no. this text in the trailer from e3 is referring to 343 Guilty Spark, an AI left on Halo by the Forerunners (the race that built Halo.)
