I really like how you left words out of the original text.

Just trying to eliminate extraneous information, and I posted the source. But, since you insist ...
"David said...
So, if this isnt a bungie ploy to amp up Halo 2, then I find it wierd that the upper message is an anagram, dont believe me?

PS - That isn't MY work, just posting someone else's work. And yes, that only includes the all caps text on the main page of ILB.

As I posted in the other thread with this... you can get that anagram. I did it three times (counted the letters in each one by one and then again just to make sure... and then by going word by word in the bottom phrase and deleteing the letters from the top phrase.) As far as I can tell, it does actually work. Oh, and don't forget, these are just the captial letters, not the entire black box warning.

i am less than impressed, mainly because of the fact that with that many letters the probability of being able to rearange them to get something else meaningful increases at a rapid (probably exponential) rate. anagrams are only really significant in small groups of words

Perhaps, however it is of great note to see that the full set of letters are reused completely, for a specific message, and without any misspellings or incomplete phrases. The sentence is almost perfect, with perhaps the odd use of 'at august 24' instead of 'on august 24', but then again if you assume this to be true, then that change may have been more useful in forming the end result.
The odds of having a completely formed expression come from a set of letters is not as ignorable as you suggest... While, of course, it is possible that it is an odd coincidence, that is the less likely of the two possibilities.

there are about 1.97450686 × 10^182 possible ways to combine those symbols. that's more than's almost 2 googol^2 combinations of letters the odds that this was on purpose are astronomically low

i don't get the people who say this isn't a bungi/microsoft/halo 2 promo. You believe this isn't a promo because they said it wasn't? Yet, it appears in a theatre preview and it's flashed for quarter of a second. Gee, guess that accidently slipped in there huh? Multi-Million dollar company throws in a little website for fun but hey, they say it's not a halo 2 promotion. Right. and i'm a pole dancer at the bunny ranch.

I don't think anyone was denying this was a promo of some sort. What was being debated in this thread was the validity of anagraming the text.

one anagram solution I'm the one who originally posted this anagram on hbo forums (I almost feel like I should apologize now).
http://carnage.bungie.org/haloforum/halo.forum.pl?read=457495
I also pm'ed it to jamesi on this site yesterday, though he didn't post it (maybe with good reason).
In any case, if you read the original post, and my responses, I agree that many possible solutions exist, and that this is only one. There are some issues with it, too, such as CD instead of DVD. So, I'm trying to find another solution. I personally believe that this is more intriguing than anything else (because it matches people's expectations so well), and it was not my intention to submit this as _the_ solution, or _proof_ of a halo 2 release.
Thanks,
sss

Think of it as "a" solve. Of unknown merit, but it does work.
And as I said about this in the Puzzle topic, as a solve it just encourages me to "Drink more Ovaltine"!

ibshimo2 you are wasting your time, there are thousands of thousands of thousands of possible ways you can anagram those letters. any thing above 10 letters long is basically worthless when it comes to anagrams and we're talking about 112 characters
