Just as long as none of us gets fried by whatever it is we're dealing with here.

After seeing some of the discussion, I think beekeepers should be the name for now, at least until we find a reason to not be named beekeepers.

I've already come up with a couple:

First off, we're not dealing with bees (at least, not literally). We're dealing with what appears to be an attack on a computer system - an attack whose damage is being repaired.

(Part of my reasoning behind ECHO MIRAGE v2.0 - the original ECHO MIRAGE team from ShadowRun also had to deal with an attack on various computer systems).

Secondly, we may all be going in the wrong direction here - the program in question may be hostile, and something doesn't want it to get out.

(Another possible reason for using Project WILDFIRE - there's another, but it involves operating unde rhte current assumption that the damaged system is friendly and the attackers mean both us and it harm. Tomorrow, we'll see what happens . . . )

Perhaps someone should start a Poll? (Personally, I vote for WidowMakers. Mr. Green )

It doesn't matter if our name has anything to do with the game.

Check the post about what other ARG'ers named their groups.

But... but... that seems more like a clan name. This is the intelligent man's game Wink

EDIT: BTW, I changed the look of the Bee Wiki... tell me what you think: http://bees.netninja.com/

In response to ECHO MIRAGE and Project WILDFIRE, I'd like something a little less militaristic sounding. Those sound like military secret ops sort of things rather than a name of puzzlers. Dunno And I'd like something that is more related to the game some way, even if it is just a nod at the use of the ilovebees website to launch.

(bolding mine)

That was one of my original thoughts on why we shouldn't use beekeepers. Since we don't know I suggested we should just stick with beekeepers for now. We may be wrong or we may be right, but we won't know for quite awhile, maybe not until the end of the game. No use in waiting to name ourselves until the game is over Wink

Auntie M is having problems with Varroa Mites in the real world and some sort of digital infection in the virtual world.

Some form of Mite control would be the logical name...

Apiguard, a gel made with Thymol, a chemical derived from Thyme, is an experimental Varroa control agent
http://www.honeycouncil.ca/users/folder.asp?FolderID=1110

Apiguards?

edit: ApiGuard is a registered trademark, so probably shouldn't be used. However, Api is greek, and the greek word for guard is aegis. So I'm changing the proposal to: Apiegis

Other Varroa treatments...

http://www.agf.gov.bc.ca/apiculture/factsheets/221_varroa.htm

Coumaphos (ilovebees has a page about the similar-sounding Comatos myth)
Quote:
Care must be taken to follow label instructions closely. As a group, organophosphates have proven to be highly effective insecticides over many decades. Concerns about these products have been associated with persistence in the environment, toxic residues, and applicator safety. Following label instructions will minimize risks.

Smile

And a final, silly idea. We can't help Auntie M with her Bee problems, but we can help her with her e-problems.

eKeepers?

Maybe I'm biased...
