The website has been slashdotted a second time, this time with links to the wiki, the thread at bungie.net, and Dana's blog.

Maybe it's a marketing ploy and a game!

But yeah, there are a lot of people there missing the point. That tends to happen when /. has articles about things that are outside of the mainstream even to geeks.

Edit: I forgot to mention that the whole "missing the point" thing is compounded by the fact that this game is being run by Microsoft. I came back here to mention it, but Max Damage beat me to it. Crying or Very sad

What makes ME laugh extra hard is when the cool underground geekness that this game/alternate reality is goes and clashes with the sensitivities of the more rabid slashdotters - it's by Bungie, who in turn are owned by Microsoft.

"OMG! M$ MAEK SOMTHING GUD!? WTFBBQBURNTHEMALLHATEHATEHATEHATE IF YOU GET SUCKERED IN U R CORPRAT FOOLZ! HAHA!!!!"

Etc etc ad infinitum.

It's even more sad, because mentioning Halo in general is like a bat-signal to obsessive internet trolls. You'll notice that the blog on the site already has some asshats telling us how much Halo sucks, they hate it, and how much we suck for enjoying it, etc etc.

Heaven forbid we actually play a game because it's fun Rolling Eyes
