[OT] Halo 2 mystery

ya'll notice in her post she mentions the Mjolnir on the http://carnage.bungie.org/haloforum/halo.forum.pl?read=456098 forum

well the Definition: An ancient Norse symbol, a stylized representation of the legendary weapon of the Norse God Thor. "Mjolnir" means "lightning," and symbolized the God's power

The Thor's hammer was worn frequently by believers as a symbol of protection- a practice so popular it continued even after most of the Norse population had converted to Christianity. In modern times, is often used as an emblem of recognition for members of the Asatru faith, or as a symbol of Norse heritage.

anyone understand the connection?

Mjolnir is also what the armor suit that Master Chief wears in Halo(2) is called.

Leading to another of the wonderful plotline discrepancies Bungie is famous for. Smile

In the Marathon series, the cyborgs themselves are the Mjolnir Mark IV units. While you have a suit of battle armor it's referred to as that, not as Mjolnir. Fast-forward to Halo and the cyborgs are now part of the SPARTAN Project, with the powered armor being the Mjolnir Mark V (John-117, the Master Chief, gets updated Mjolnir armor with Covenant shield technology, this is essentially Mjolnir Mark VI.).

Again, the 'she' you refer is almost certainly not part of the game... the account is connected to the same username @hotmail.NET. See the NET there? Yeah, that's different than .COM, which is the actual email address and hotmail website. This is just someone trying to screw with people. Plus, if it was connected with halo 2 and they wanted to post in the Halo 2 forums then they'd just get a real account.

Oh, and one of the major rules of ARGs is for the game not to see itself as a game. Thus we wont see any direct connections saying "I am Durandal! You may remember me from such games as Halo and Marathon!" or anything that directly connects the ARG to Halo. This is the same thing as there never being a mention of the movie AI during The Beast. They started it off with the poster, sure, but that was it.

That post on the Halo boards is false and unrelated to this ARG.
