Markus,

CUT it out!

Dana has asked repeatedly not to hack the VMAIL. Do you WANT us to lose our only contact in this game?

Sadly, between here and there (the posts linked by yanka), markus evolved from a questioner of Dana's reality to a hacker of her vmail. In both threads. Hopefully quashed now.

Try HERE and HERE

And next time try using the nifty SEARCH function located in the upper right hand corner.

why an epileptic siezure can be triggered by visual stimuli? Let that

yay, how fun, a smartass. i can be one too! Very Happy

watch:

how exactly would an AI transfer itself via visual stimuli, as you correctly pointed out causes epilepsy? i dunno, but reading source code from a website has never turned ME into a website. which would you be? the possibilities disturb me...

maybe you mean microwave transmissions, which is how cellphones transmit (coz radio waves definitely couldn't do it. the interference would be a bitch). i dunno about you, but i don't have an antenna hooked up to a microwave reciever in my head, and i doubt any human does, because the microwave radiation would kill that person. i mean, an unshielded mobile phone antenna will kill a small area of the scalp of anyone using it in fifteen minutes. luckily this amount of time is not enough for it to actually kill whole sections of the brain, just damage them. because if that were the case, and you used an unshielded phone, i wouldn't put it past someone like you to make themselves clinically brain dead.

maybe a double-layered dvd? i wouldn't want to know where you'd stick the disc, vick...

see? i'm a better smartass than you.

name me one intelligent way currently in existence which could allow pure unfiltered data to be inserted into the human mind (visual stimuli is NOT unfiltered, because it has to travel through the consciousness and be interpreted, therefore filtering it).

even though in my post i said "let's assume spinal-tapping into the brain with a cable is possible," it isn't. hate to rain on your parade, you know. the truth hurts. spinal plugs and brain jacks are simply not technologically possible at our level, nor in the forseeable future.

i mean, we definitely have the computer power to do it. firewire might be able to handle it. its able to transfer almost forty times faster than USB1. or maybe even USB2, which is more than forty times faster than USB1. the prototype of firewire2 has a projected max amount of 800mbps. thats enough to transfer a LOT of code in a VERY short amount of time. maybe enough to transfer an AI...? oh, wait, i have never met anyone with either a USB port or a firewire port anywhere on their person. maybe its just the people i know...

the reason nobody has plugs yet is because it isn't medically possible, nor is anyone with significant resources doing any significant research into it.

i won't be a smartass if you won't be.

dear markus,

the "post reply" button is not--repeat: NOT--a substitute for punctuation marks.

I don't need to... I've read Snow Crash.

Speaking of the greatest book ever written...

I ran into a guy claiming to be Raven on IRC.

He claimed that he shot a kid in the head with a slingshot that can "bend a penny"... and got a warning. And that he was an expert with knives and all kinds of shit.

I ended up making him cry. And he got kickbanned from the channel.

Kids, please...

Hey now, guys. This thread is speculation involving the possible MAJOR changes in this situation we may see as early as midnight. I don't see how trading barbs over spinal taps, or picking on markus will get this anywhere. markus will eliminate himself through the sheer unintelligence of his posts. We're responsible for figuring this out.

Well for the record I was not TRYING to be a smart @ss, I was simply
trying to give you a nudge in the right direction. But that's OK, I see
you don't understand what I was refering to. Let me clarify, digital data
as you know is a series of zeros and ones. In effect anything can be
converted into digital data as long as it has two different states. With out
going into too much detail, if one were to discover how the human brain
might interperate certain forms of "digital" data, one could easily
manipulate the target. Of course digital can always be converted to
various other forms of analog signals, and be interperted by the brain
accordingly. I will leave you with this thought, YOUR particular brain
(however feeble) is decoding data as you read this post. Is not some
form of data bieng entered into your memory at this time, regardless
of your opinion toward said data? If you understood why an epileptic
siezure can be triggered by visual stimuli (i.e. flashing light), then maybe
you could grasp something more sophisticated than a "datajack": ala'
Matrix/Shadowrun.

Alright folks, let's play nice. There's no need to trade disparaging posts.

Feel free to return to the topic at hand now....

I will keep my first post short and sweet.

She mentions that she sold honey at the Yountsville Farmers Market.

Well the town and market is spelled Yountville. With no "s"

Could just be a mistake on part of the those involved. I will leave that up to you guys.

PS:did a search and found nothing before posting.
