Travel BACK in time?

Once we get more info.

There's gonna be some sort of backwards time travel. Unless all the beekeepers out there have been transported forward in time to the Halo universe.

*Looks out the window for flying cars*

Nope... I think the character will have traveled back in time.

A: Yes, Keyes is physically dead. So's Danny Hinton, Max . . . HIS BODY WAS TURNED INTO A FREAKIN' METAL ROBOT COVERED WITH FUR.

Also, it was mentioned that Keyes was using the CNI transponder carrier wave to TRY to keep his sanity.

Perhaps the sudden jar of physical death was enough to tip him over the edge - after all, we've had people who firmly believe they're Napoleon Bonaparte or King George III or that little green men from Mars stole their brains and replaced it with Cheez Whiz.

Who's to say that Keyes's insanity doesn't make him think he's a female AI named The Operator?

Probably writers who aren't constantly high?

If it is this Keyes guy.. who's now trapped inside a computer... and thinks that he's a chick queen thing... I'll be very Censored

If that is what's going on, I'll probably kill an old lady.

Read through the sailor portion of the mayday text: http://bees.netninja.com/wiki/index.php?title=Mayday_text_organized

This guy is onto something, besides the fact that Keyes is dead, and this entity thinks she is a woman. Unless s/he is unsure of its sex: "I'm losing the memory already I can't see myself was I wearing a dress or overalls". Couldn't Keyes' memory be in a computer? He's unable to find "up" as if he's somewhere new (cyberspace?).

"Tricky. Can't seem to focus. Need to start on the easy ones, like "up". Move on to the compass later.

Up.

Up.

...Damn it.

You'd think "up" wouldn't be too much to ask. It's not like nor-nor-east or something. "

Per time travel: There is/was (I hate time travel) a crystal on Reach which was warping time so that Master Chief would be in the right place at the right time. This is the artifact that the Covies were after and why they didn't completely glass Reach. The crystal affects gravity and also affects slipspace travel causing slipspace to expand and be unpredictable.

It also gives off a huge amount of radiation when it is active and therefore is destroyed by the only surviving ODST from Halo. There are shards of it left on the ship but not enough to account for the mass of the original crystal. We later find that parts of it slipped into slipspace as a shard is found by the Covies near Tau Ceti.

There is a damn good possibility of more than one crystal as I believe the time is still missed up after it is destroyed to get them to the Unyielding Hierophant (a massive covie spacestation) I'll have to check the books when I get home.

The artifacts are Forerunner in theory and I believe that all of the events were laid out by the Forerunner with the Crystals left behind to ensure everyone's fate remains the same, whatever fate that may be. That's why I think in the future Master Chief with advanced armour will be teleported back 100,000 years or so to Halo 04 and activate it thus explaining GS's comment of "You have done this before"

This also explains the Cortana letters which take place in our time as well as this ARG regardless of who it is.

If it isn't keyes, what is the progress made by this line of thought?

Keyes died like 3 times, according to somebody on this thread.

He's dead.

He's a HE.

Why was he called The Operator? (If this is him, I mean)

You're jumping to conclusions that don't make any sense!

The writers of this little game probably haven't been beaten about the head with a hammer. But if they were, I'm sure this AI would be your Keyes.

No, read what I posted. Plus, in the Mayday transcripts, s/he talks about his crew. And he's obviously unsure about his sex: dress or overalls?

Why would Keyes be the navigational/main computer for a ship with a crew?

According to what you guys are speccing, the most he would be is loose in some network without a purpose.

This one had a purpose. It hints that it was the main computer for a ship with a crew.

Although the cover story was a bit odd...

"Hair Brown"? That kinds throws me for a loop.
