Laughing The best part in that slashdot thread is this comment...

Quote:
I finally understand why so many people have been visiting my friend's website [yapl.org] from ilovebees related sites. (It's a website about locations of payphones).

We were scratching our heads on this one.

There will be a story on ILB on ABC radio's Buzz (heh) in Australia this Saturday, apparently.

Hi there. My name's Noah Shachtman. I'm a writer with The New York

you may know a thing or two about it. If that's right, I'd like to
speak with you.

I need to have the conversation right away, however; my deadline is fast
approaching. If you could give me a call as soon as you get this
message, I'd be much obliged. Thanks. I'm looking forward to hearing
from you.

Best,

Yeah. I've been trying to get in contact with Noah since he emailed me yesterday. I called him yesterday and got some reception lady who I left a message and my number. Great. He'll call me back tomorrow.

I talked to him earlier this morning and we set up and official time for him to call around 1:30 in the afternoon (I'm really busy with work as of late). I got nothing. I called him and he blew me off. Wasted an entire lunch hour waiting for him to call. I left him a note asking to call back later, which he never did...AND won't reply to any voicemails.

Nice manners, jerk. Razz

Ahhh.....he is from NYC, so I guess I am expecting some kindness that isn't there anymore Wink

Just a note, this is the quickref forum, which is in theory a list of references. Discussion about said references should be (and are) posted in the Questions/Meta forum.

Thank you for your support. Smile

Actually, the Weblogs are free:

ON a side note, I told the guy who does this blog about ILB sometime this summer. That was pre-AXON, I think, so maybe it wasn't cool enough for Variety back then. Very Happy

Neal Stephenson Interview on Slashdot

Neal is probably best known for his book Snow Crash. He talks about ilovebees in Questions 5 and 6 of the 12-question interview.

If you are in the mood for a laugh, read his answer to question 4 as well...nothing to do with ilovebees though...

copies of New York Post

ok - jamesi or steve or anyone else mentioned in the NY Post article. If you want a copy of the article, PM me. Assuming it is in the "real" paper and not just the online edition, I would be happy to pick up a copy for you and mail it to you. That way you can keep your scrapbooks up to date.

I am still wondering about that unpaid position as the full-time ARG archivist....
Wink

PS re: Neal Stephenson. Some people may know him best from Snow Crash, but his book Cryptonomicon (a New York Times best seller) and his recently completed trilogy called The Baroque Cycle are also very well known.

There are flaws. First he says 15 million copies of Halo 2 preordered (it's 1.5). Second, he says that the ASU BeeKeeper sign shown on CNN actually said "Arizona State University Bee Keepers" but it was really a giant beee with the letters ASU.

Plus he says that the ILB storyline "ties in to" the Halo 2 story line. But only tangentally. Of course, the average reader would never understand the relationship so I guess the journalistic license employed to simplify the story is understandable.
