The latest on that fabled New York Times article. I spoke with Noah Shachtman this morning. He said the article should be out on Thursday, November 4 (nice coincidence, huh?).

I also spoke with Noah Shachtman. He asked questions about how I found out about ILB, what tempted me to get involved, what kept me motivated to continue participating, how would I describe ILB to a non-player audience (what are the essential elements that "grab" the audience), how my "phone trick" worked, and whether I had needed to do anything else extraordinary.

Personally, I'm not very impressed with the quality of questions and I am concerned about what the final product will say of us.

Edit: reprhase

Is that print or online? I've been talking to him this morning too, but forgot to ask.

It's print+online, although you need to register to read it, if memory serves.

vpisteve is right on both counts. Yes, both print and online and yes, you do need to register to read the online version.

Talked to Noah as well. He seemed to ask the basics, but came up with a great line that summed up my feelings about ILB. Forgot what I said, or what he said, but I'm sure I'll probably see it in print.

I was kinda hoping for more in depth questions, but oh whell...not every day you get interviewed by NY Times, no?

Never heard back from the guy. I guess not interested in the weekly adventures of the DC Axon Hunter Signal Corps.

The Art of Storytelling

howstuffworks.com has an interview with Pete Parsons, Studio Manager for Bungie entitled Halo 2 and the Art of Storytelling (spoiler-safe link). No mention of ILB, but an interesting read.

Final Slashdotting. Sorry if the writeup sucks, but I'm kinda a n00b at this (I've only loved bees for a little over a week). I submitted the story yesterday, but they only posted it about an hour ago. It wasn't my intent for them to post it just as we're all reloading recipe8 trying to get the .wavs. Fortunately, it's on the lesser-read Games section of Slashdot and not on the front page.

XBox Nation - U Love Bees: November 1, 2004

Quote:
A California honey shop, Halo 2, and love of bees converged this summer in one of the most bizarre marketing campaigns ever created. Here's the story behind Bungie's alternate-reality game (ARG)...
