Just to put a nail in the coffin of the OXM spec, check this post on HBO
NO DEMO INCLUDED

Comes out 24th how did he see it...no demo disc what-so-ever ...I doupt it but maybe......but back to the real stuff....

The 24th countdown ends at round 6 am when most newsstands open. Fact.
If there is a demo or just info who knows. Could be a puzzle in it though....end of story...really. We'll know for sure Aug 24th.

(thumper) I say OXM is not behind this. The release date of the Holiday Special may or may not have anything to do with the ARG. However, the ILB address popped up in a Microsoft sponsored ad in theaters nationwide, which had absolutely nothing to do with OXM. OXM is run and owned by a company not affiliated with Microsoft, an entirely separate entity. It would be nigh-impossible for them to arrange the ILB address in the theater trailer.

You're right - OXM is not behind this. The thought of them being the ones running the show is ludicrous! Microsoft/and or/ bungie are responsible. Had ILB not been a Microsoft/Bungie venture there would have been TONS of press releases from BOTH companies urging people not to visit the site, as it would be their liability. Even if it HAD been hacked into the "Official Movie Trailer" Microsoft would have had the trailer pulled off the screens the second they found out! You remember when the H2 Screens leaked out a few weeks ago? Microsoft ate them up like a rabid wolf. MSFT is definitely running ILB, It IS tied to Halo 2, and the Demo disc in the Aug 24. issue of OXM is extremely possible... what do they have to lose by releasing a demo? Already the largest predicted first 24 hour entertainment retail day in history, this game is going to blow away all of the records, music, games, and movies alike. They have pre-sold something like 1.7 million copies. There are quite a few more Xbox owners, and say you were to put a demo in their hands, of the best game ever produced on the system... you'd probably instantly pre-sell tens of thousands more games from people that got a taste of the demo.

Screwy you're crazy to ignore the facts.

I understand exactly what you're saying, but let me try putting it in this perspective:

THERE IS NO DEMO COMING OUT ON THE 24TH!!! It's been categorically denied as a possibility from anyone with authority to say so!!!

I hope that has helped. Thanks.

of course they'd deny it... it would be contradictory to the ARG.
what if they confirmed it? what implications would that have on the ARG?

Halo 2 comes out on Nov. 9th or Nov. 11th for the UK. It does NOT come out on Aug 24th. You know what does come out on Aug. 24th? Some OXM special which does NOT, and I repeat does NOT have a Halo 2 demo on it. No clue how that rumor gained so much momentum. But to reiterate, Halo 2 comes out Nov. 9th or Nov.11th for the UK.

that's frankie's statement.... if you wanted to get really picky and play semanitcs, you could break his statement down to mean that there will be no halo 2 demo ON THE MAGAZINE ITSELF. he says nothing about the impossibility of being packaged alongside it.... or, if you still like being picky, he says Aug 24th ???? what year? aug 24 2005? 2019?

i know it's a stretch, but i'm trying to be open minded about it... give suggestions... play the game..... SPEC

one other thing to think about... i remember this much from logic class, and learning the rules of logical debate... freddie says "No clue how that rumor gained so much momentum. "

that is a lie. he knows exactly how it came to be. if frankie has lied about one thing, then from a logic standpoint any other statement he makes can hold NO validity. anything he says now is considered a mis-statement, until proven otherwise. freddie is a source of misinformation.

Logically, frankie is not to be trusted.

besides, who says that anything "frankie" says, or anything posted by OXM is "IN GAME"????

Ok, well, feel free to believe whatever you want. All spec is fine and dandy in my opinion. However, when you are eagerly waiting for your demo of Halo2, I will be actually playing the game, getting ready for the real game set for the 9th of November. I'm not trying to be really harsh here, just I hate it when an obvious untruth is told... And this is one of those.

Oh, and while I'm here, one more point of clarification: our Holiday Preview Guide is a newsstand-only special. It is 112 pages of pure text and screenshots. No ads, no disc. It contains a great summary of all the known Halo 2 information - right up until all of the awesome new revelations featured in our October issue.

Hope you all enjoy reading my October issue Halo 2 feature as much as I enjoyed writing it,

Ryan

And from one who doesnt own an xbox and has absolutely no interest in halo2, the REAL game is Haunted apiary which endengers a great sense of community and enjoyment on here. DSo if no H2 referecnes, I will be happy as a clam anyways. Methinks that whatever we get on the 24th has nothing to do with h2, but with ha. Woohoo!

Maybe it will have some info on ilovebees.com.. That would be awesome

But yes, for those still wondering, its true. Buy the newest copy of OXM yourself and flip to the last few pages, you'll see an add for it, exactly the same.

Ah, got it now. Yeah, not sure how some subscribers get it way earlier than others, especially if some have even found it in bookstores already.

No one said if there was a demo release that it would HAVE to be through OXM... I remember getting several free demos for "metal arms", "ghost recon island thunder" etc... off of the counter at EB... they could very well possibly mail out copies of the H2 demo to any and every game store under the sun. Frankie and Ryan both said the magazine wouldn't contain a demo... but i dont think that they totally ruled out the possibility of a demo all together....

just more spec..... Coffee

I'm getting a real kick out of the dudes who are getting all pissy and typing in real big red letters, hoopin' and hollerin' like they have any more idea about what's going to happen on Tuesday then anybody else. You know just as much as everyone else, and that info just happens to be exactly what bungie and M$ have fed you. Your spec isn't any wiser or more factual then anyone elses. You don't have privledged information allowing you to state Censored as fact. M$ isn't doing all of this for Censored and giggles so that all us ARG nerds can get our rocks off. There is a ryhme and reason.
I remember last week a bunch of you guys were hoopin' and hollerin' about how stupid of an idea it was to actually go to the GPS points and now it looks like that was the right idea from day one.
I wonder if M$ or bungie are sending all these kids out into the streets all day long all over the country so that they can laugh at us, or, Censored hold the game presses....there might just be something in it for us.
I'm really interested in this ARG stuff but a lot of you guys act like kids and know it all snobs. Everyone wants to solve this thing, but I don't need somebody who who has just as little intel as i do putting me down or my ideas.
I'm not sure if the game is coming out early. I'm about 70/30 that it's not but so far i have not seen one thing that can't be undone or revised allowing the people making the game to do what ever the hell they want with the release date. In fact most of the information I've found states that it is totally possible. The only timeline we have is from bungie and m$. Both of which like to mess with their customers to draw attention to their products. i.e. WIN95 and just about all other Bungie games. When i flip over to ilb(a product of M$ and Bungie) i see a big black time counter which will end on Tuesday. Maybe it's just the begining or it could be the end of all this skawbaling. I doubt it.

** edited for language. we get the Censored point. -- jamesi
