SuperJerms,

again, citing the bungie policy, they will ban you for repeated attempts of promoting a GAME release on the 24th, not a demo.

again, i feel that a demo release on the 24th could with out a doubt be made totally in-game, and provide information vital to the ARG puzzles, wether in some kind of extra video, information on the game case, or even events in the storyline of the demo.... i do not expect it to be an endgame, as you said, that would be moronic. [SPEC] and disdain

Good. I'm glad this all probably isn't a big publicity campaign for a freaking Halo2 demo that any old dingus can just go grab in a game store. I'd much rather that a more exclusive reward was given.

BTW, I'm not a Halo fan, so I hope that it isn't a free Halo something or other. If its related at all, there may be additional ARG stuff on the disk or in the issue...after all, it does say awake and pysical. What better way for an electronic entity to become physical than by being put in a physical medium. Personally, I'm hoping for an interactive entity on a loadable disk. I bet this is trout. I'm skipping ahead on posts in the interest of not getting fired.

XGameFusion:

I believe you'll notice that it was stated:

I've sorta been following the fuss – too busy to really get into it, but Halo 2 will still release on Nov. 9th in the US and most other places, and Nov. 11th in the UK. Nor will we release a playable demo, anytime soon. In fact, we're so busy with the game that there's no chance we'll even think about a playable demo until after Halo 2 ships. And that is official. It isn't happening folks. The game is however, happily on schedule for November 9th.

followed by:

As such, people that make the suggestion that the game IS being released on the 24th are insinuating that Bungie employees are lying. Bungie doesn't like that. Therefore, any threads trying to discuss false release dates such as August 24th will be locked or deleted without notice, and repeat offenders will be blacklisted from the forums.

Based on the first statement I believe making posts about a demo release would also be insinuating that Bungie employees are lying. Thereby falling under the same lock/ban rule. If you wish to dispute this please feel free to go to the Bungie site and make such posts. Just be sure to come back here and link to said post and we will all see the results. ie.. Then it may be a useful spec if you spell it out as to how she would accomplish this. Not that it would be impossible, but how is she going to slip information into Microsoft's mass produced disc? Why would she do this if, as you agreed earlier, she probably doesn't even know what an xbox is? If she can hack Microsoft, why didn't she just hack USA Today or some other prominent news source and spread the message to millions of people?

nice point... but, she managed to get the link into the official xbox trailer... why not onto an official xbox disc? that doesn't seem out of the realm of possibility.

Also, it doesn't necessarily have be be M that does it... couldn't the PM's make it happen (by ARG "rules")?

who was responsible for the link appearing in the trailer? i assumed it was M, but now i realize i don't know for sure... besides, no one saw that coming, anyway... in the same respect, i hadn't seen anyone else connect a possible demo to an in-game set of clues/puzzles/hints....

just more spec...

Just wanna add my two cents..Bungie has stated that they will under no circumstances release a playable demo of Halo 2 before the game's release, as this would A. Place unneeded stress on the development team, and B. Lessen the impact of the actual release. In other words, they want this to be HUGE. They don't want people to know what to expect. If I remember correctly, all the playable versions that have been at the expos and shows were multiplayer demos only.

All of this was spent on building a story that didn't correlate with halo at all until it got into advanced stages.

wow that's quite an oxymoron... I believe ILB started to correlate with halo.. WHEN IT FIRST CAME TO LIGHT ON A HALO 2 TRAILER. Jesus! you don't get much more correlation to that! Besides the multiple references to the flood and the covenant!

How did she mail out the honey Jars?

Please, stop kidding yourself... Quit trying to rationalize that ILB has nothing to do with halo! It is a MARKETING CAMPAIGN for halo 2!! I know the ARGers want it to be the Beast 2, but quit denying that it is related to halo. I mean seriously, this is ALL happening in the Halo/Marathon universe.

I believe the jars were recieved before the halo2 trailer was seen. If i remember no one had a clue as to what the letters that were cut out ment and as such had no idea about the ilovebees in the halo2 trailer.

While i do believe that this is related to halo in some way, there is a chance that it isnt. Halo, isnt the only(and certinly not the first) thing to use AI constructs and other futuristic things(god am i a wiz with words). Maybe its halo fans, who saw it in a halo trailer, saw AI and space, and quickly said "OH MY GOD! ITS HALO."

As for the sending of honey vs sending demo disks:
I think it would be easier for an AI, put in a small order on a personal bussiness site and have it go unnoticed. Then have a mass order of tens of thousands of cds produced on one of the biggest companys on the planet.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wouldn't the jars of honey and the url in the trailer be considered out of game (ie.. only a way to get players to discover the game)? I mean if they are "in game" maybe we should interrogate the UPS driver or the theater owners. Rolling Eyes Again, I could be wrong on this and would appreciate the correction if needed. We can't assume that becaule Melissa used payphones that somehow the phone companies were involved now can we?

From Dana's Blog:

Melissa, a.k.a. "The Operator," used to run communications on a ship. The ship's purpose: to spy on an enemy known as "the Covenant."

Sounds like Halo-verse to me...
