Urban Hunt

There seems to be a new reality show called Urban Hunt (actually, my cousin signed up to be a contestant, heh). Anyway, they are also looking for "online advisors". I'm assuming it will be something like that Uncle Roy's game, where the players at home can guide the participants. Sounds kinda cool, but no real date for when it might be coming out yet.

Pretty kewl looking. Reminds me a little bit of something that Ben Affleck et al wanted to do, I think they called it "The Chase"? But 9/11 put the kybosh on that one.

/me loves Reality Shows.

And this one at least sounds different.

On the other hand, check out the other website from their studio,
Tomorrow's Talk. The next show sounds so much like "Who Wants to Marry a Millionaire" crossed with "For Love or Money", and downright cruel.

P.S. I think I've gotten the hang of these url links Smile

There is some TV that I do not watch.....like wrestling shows.

I gave up on daytime dramas (soap operas) about 10 years ago.

And there are some reality shows I won't watch (For Love or Money, Who Wants to Marry my Dad, The Bachelor/Bachelorette).

But for a really good time (spoofing all the other reality shows), check out Joe Schmo2 this year. One of the producers is a regular poster on the TV forums and maintains a blog with some great behind the scenes stuff. They also have weekly chats with producers or actors/characters.

Here is the link to the show: Joe Schmo

Okay, okay, so I signed up to be an ONLINE Advisor.

While I would rather have applied to be ON the show, no way that my work (nor my military obligation) would allow me the time off to be a contestant on the show. But the Online option intrigues me.

Besides:

I signed up to be an advisor too; got a response from them today at work. Got home, read it again, and realized it has a puzzle! I'm not sure that I should share it, though, because I think it might be their way of testing the candidates to see whether they qualify to be advisors or something along those lines.

Has anyone else registered and seen the email puzzle? Do you think we may have stumbled onto another new ARG here?

Oh my ghod. Thanks yanka. I didn't even think to look for something like that. Seemed like a typical autoresponse to me. So I'm staring and staring at it and then did an old fashioned look. You are right, that is a typical ARG-like puzzle in that email.

When I first checked out the site, I thought it seemed a little, I don't know, low-tech. And the company's website didn't seem as slick as it should. I googled the 2 different TV show names, the Studio name, and all of the contact names, and nothing was really pointing to this is legitimate. In fact, while some of the contact names did have a slight connection to Hollywood, I couldnt find at least one, and another name was a writer. But, at the time I thought, "I'm just being stupid. No one else has said anything this seems hinky yet."

However, after looking at the puzzle in the email, and at the solve quickly, this does have overtones of an ARG. Because I can't imagine any company would put out an email that ended up pointing to a nasty little secret. But, I've been known to be wrong in the past Smile

Those sites did sort of set off my BS sensors...the trailers are pretty hokey... I figured it was a shell set up for some larger, more nefarious TV series Wink I traced it a little ways back, they do have some names in there that are decent, but quite nondescript.

Never occurred to me that it might really just be an ARG though. Smile A few reality TV sites picked it up and had a blurb about it. Would be a cool rabbithole.

Ooh ooh! Looking suspiciously ARG-y to me. Heh, yanka...that was a nice find. Mr. Green

The solve links to another interesting site which may well be in-game, assuming it's a game... would spoiler tags be good for discussing it, or we all holding off for now? If this is moving from reality-tv competition to ARG territory, then we can talk, right?

Also, anyone think this should be moved to news/rumors?

Woah, guys.

Yanka, you rock! I'm moving this to the news and rumors section.

Game sites linked in three deep so far......

My thought at this point, is it's not a reality show, it's a game. Post away (with spoiler tags).

Rock On

Not sure if this is spolier-worthy, but just in case:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
If anyone's intrigued by the Dream Projector website check out the Wim Wenders movie Until the End of the World. In it a scientist has created a machine which enables you to record your dreams (although that wasn't the original intention - it was to help a blind person see). Very nice film partly shot in Australia.

I second the 'this is not a reality tv show' notion. Good find Yanka!
