[PUZZLE] A description of the dungeon

Quote:

a total mess
such a shambles!

I have been attempting to put the dungeon to splendor. You have sent

out

a cute kitty

varrao mites

clockcase

the mirrors

teeth

gauze

mice

Wombat

Rose

That's lovely. Thank you.

That list has to bear some analysis. It could just be words culled from emails, but it's a peculiar, meaningless sequence if so.

What interests me is the word 'clockcase'. It's not a word, for a start, and it only gets 447 hits on Google. I can't work out where it would have got it from; why someone would have used it in an email (even dictionary lists wouldn't have it) or what webpage it's watching. Anyone got any ideas?

Almost as curious: excluding the ilovebees stuff, the only hit for "varrao mites" is this page. That's because the correct spelling is "varroa mites", apparently. I suppose it's no surprise that the entity replying to the emails spells it incorrectly, because I'd imagine anyone asking questions would do the same.

The others are such common words (or phrases) that I'm not sure where we could go from here. It may just be random data, but there's some meaning in all the other answers, so it makes sense that there's something here to discover too. Thoughts?

http://bees.netninja.com/wiki/index.php?title=Widow%27s_Journey_-_Computer_Text_Comparison

This compares the widows story with the text file. The clockcase at the end represents the spider fiddling with danas countdowntochina clock and using it to produce her warning and countdown on the first page.

Ok. So are we thinking these things in the dungeon are items on the website? Things that it's been trying to 'put in order'?

As I pointed out in another thread, the varrio mites show up in another Dara email, check the emails on the twiki.

I suspect, though, people have been repeating back stuff to the hotmail email (like posting the Queen story verbatim) to see what happens.

It may be nothing but their seems to be some logic to their order.

A cute kitty - Appeared on the site from the start.
Varroa mites - Was addd later to tell us that she stopped selling honey
Clockcase - Appeared when Dana decided to go to china
Mirrors - This is when the queen is trapped in the sandbox.
Teeth - May represent the spider fixing the queen as she mentions teeth in her dialogue
Gauze - Could represent the network tgrottle eroding. The queen is trapped but can still get messages to us (like being trappedin a net)
mice - ?
Wobat - ?
Rose - ?

Here's my line of thought:

dungeon = ilovebees.com website. It's a mess, plus the things described as being "in" the dungeon seem to corelate with parts of the webpage:

a cute kitty = farnsworth (the cat on the "about" page)
varrao mites = ? They are mentioned in the site content, as well as in embedded content.
clockcase = The countdown timer on the front page of the site.
the mirrors = ? Maybe hard drive platters? (i.e. the actual disks) Those are very reflective.
teeth = ? The virus scanners? The Queen/Operator/Melissa refers to being torn by jaws
gauze = ?
mice = ?
Wombat = ?
Rose = ?

Any further speculation on these items?

I really like that idea. Now all we need is for pictures of wombats to show up on the site to confirm it Smile

Your theory suggests Dana did all this. It would be her who did all this (put all the pictures on the site, updating the text, capturing the queen)

Could The Mirrors be this image?

if dungeon = ilovebees.com website, this also implies that the webserver and Dana's machine are one and the same (in the story, since we all know a home PC with a broadband connection couldn't possibly handle the amount of requests the site gets.), since messages from Melissa come out on the web site, but she also takes control of Dana's personal webcam. If Dana's PC is not the web server, then Melissa is on two separate machines, which does not jive with her story so far (Melissa complains often about being trapped in a [singular] "box" and also about how she has no control over Dana's home from that box).

All clues seem to indicate that while Melissa has figured out some of our networking protocols (the stuff about the tentacle), but she has not yet figured out how to get out onto the network. My guess is that that is the event that "this medium will metastasize" refers to...

The medium has been referring to the Queen/Operator/Melissa. Metastasize refers to actually permantly infecting/copying itself to another site/cell.
When a cancer metastasizes a new cell, it has made it cancerous in teh same form as the original. I think when Melissa metastasizes, she will begin to infect other websites (as has been repeatedly surmised)

I don't think there's any reason to suspect the Queen's control over Dana's webcam to suggest ('in the story') that the website must be on Dana's machine. Using remote resources is not necessarily the same as infecting them with copies/parts of herself.

Wombat

Womat = anagram for Maw Bot. Almost certainly a huge reach that won't work out, but hey, might be something to think about...

It could also be a reference to the player named Wombat.

Mice could be konamouse.

a cute kitty would work for sauceycat.

Rose could be our player rose. We know the Entity likes her, since he/she/it responded to the email she sent via killer.jpg Very Happy
