[SPEC] My rather major theory on Halo 2 game link

Right, i promised, and now i shall deliver.

I think i've solved all the Halo 2 linked parts. This is all still speculation til August 24th of course, but just read on...

Catalyst one was finding the Speech Intelligibility Index page (http://www.sii.to/) or SII. This is software that recognises word patterns regardless of accent- software very useful in voice recognition software. People who've been working on the bolded text on the counter will recognise those letters- they are the start of each word of bold line 3.

Catalyst two was hearing about Plantronics' Halo 2 headset (http://carnage.bungie.org/haloforum/halo.forum.pl?read=460234) on the HBO forums. The poster's dad works for Plantronics, who also just so happen to make the Live! headsets. They're basically making a new model in clear green with a Halo 2 logo on it. At first, i thought "sweet, a new Live! headset with the game logo on", then i got to thinking...

Ready?

Bold line 1: HALT - MODULE CORE HEMORRHAGE
Or Halo - Marine Control Headset, as i think it may be...

Bold line 2: SYSTEM PERIL DISTRIBUTED REFLEX
This could be one of two things: Single Player Demo Release, which means they'll release a trailer or video showing how voice recognition works- NOT a playable demo. The other idea i had was that it could be to do with the Speech recognition Product (or Project) Design Received.

Bold line 3: STRONG INTRUSIVE INCLINATION
References the Speech Intelligibilty Index software.

Bold line 4 (excluding phase countdwons): COUNTDOWN TO WIDE AWAKE AND PHYSICAL
This makes me think that the demo or pictures of the headset will be released August 24th.

This is all speculation of course- but i may be on to something here, and it's best to get it out while i can...

That seems to be kinda far off considering where the game has already gone. But, I do like the idea!!

Voice Command?

Are you implying that in Halo 2, we will speak through the headset to give commands to the game-controlled marines? ie, we SAY "Flank Left" and they run around to the left of the enemy?

I've not heard of this idea, and yes... implementing such a technology (assuming it works reliably) into a game would indeed be revolutionary.

If you have any additional information about this theory, gaming concept, etc... please post a couple links!

I doubt it, but very interesting non-the-less!

Kinda off topic, but, I would not wanna see us be able to manipulate marines. Halo is amazing for the type of game Halo is. Well for any type of game that is. That might take it somewhere we dont want it.

OT - This would be great as far as I'm concerned. The Voice Command system in Rainbow Six 3 is superb, and I've long wondered whether or not they would include such a system in Halo 2. Master Cheif and the other Spartans do have a COM system built into their MJOLNIR armor. It would make sense to include a COM system in the game.

After further speculaton and indeed going and playing rainbow, that would be great. The ability to have a ship drop teammates or call in air strikes would be nice. ohh wait, this really doenst concern this thread.

this is aftually the best theory yet, and for what it's worth, bungie has ruled out the game being bumped up... Frankie said it himself..

Oooo-kay. So now this entire game, all the content that's been created, all the effor that's been put into it, is to promote pictures of a headset? Y'all are suffering from a failure of imagination, if nothing else.

If this doesn't qualify as a lock-worthy OT thread, it's reallll close. But just in case...

DANCING LOCK! Locky!

I agree with the above poster. Lock this thread up before it hurts anyone else. Think of the children.

and if they did their homework, pretty much every home computer and some game systems like the Halcyon used voice commands. tis nothing new or itneresting there.

And the time it took to set up ilovebees.com and things, I agree, t isnt to promote cheap headsets....

Sorry, sanctusmortis, but even if all the factual information you provided is correct that doesn't lead to a Halo 2 headset --> ILB connection. You need to flesh out your arguments more... merely tagging each line of SPDR's countdown with speculation on how it might relate isn't enough. You need at least one piece of evidence directly linking the two before going on... such as a direct reference to headsets or voice commands in the ILB text, or an ad for the new headset with a bee on it, or something similar.

I'm not saying that you should stop looking, but you do need to find something more before we can follow the chain to your conclusion.

-- Steve's pondering overtime, but thinks that there just isn't enough factual information to make a meaningful prediction yet.

MY GOD! YOU'RE RIGHT!!!

I was studying the site further and I think I've figured out the rest of it.

Melissa really stands for "Mysterious Enigmatic Lady In Space Shooting Asteroids"!! Clearly, this means that there will be a deep-space rock mining minigame in Halo 2!

FLEA, naturally, is "Fox, Lions Eat Aliens", which points out that the secret weapon against the Covenant in Halo 2 is escaped zoo animals!

Finally, Dana might just be a pseudonym for "Dan", who could only be Dan Morris, editor of PC Gamer Magazine! OMG HALO 2 IS COMING OUT FOR PC FIRST!!!!

OK, I've figured it all out; everyone can go home now.

I have my money on a full Augest 24th release. On the trailer the game has already been rated by the MSRP and this means the game is finished or extremely close to being finished. And I think on Augest 10th we will find out for sure that the release date is the 24th
